Was the Assassination Attempt Donald Trump's Valkyrie?
Many Americans are expecting a Hitler-like purge
At around 12:42pm on Thursday July 20th, 1944, a German colonel placed the bomb in a briefcase under the conference table at Adolf Hitler’s tell-me-you’re-a-beta-without-telling-me-you’re-a-beta headquarters, “The Wolf’s Lair.”
Unfortunately for millions of Jews and others who were later immolated following a frog march to the mustachioed despot’s gas chambers, another colonel wanted more legroom and moved the briefcase at the last second.
BOOM.
Four people died, including, ironically, the dude who wanted more legroom.
Not dead?
Adolf Hitler, who was shielded from the blast by a thick table leg.
The plot’s originator, Claus von Stauffenberg, was executed by firing squad the following day, yelling “Long live holy Germany!”
von Stauffenberg was one of the lucky ones.
The Nazis went on a purge, arresting more than 7,000 people and executing 5,000 of them — many brutally, including strangulation and slow hanging by piano wire.
Claus von Stauffenberg’s brother was tortured and revived multiple times to prolong his pain.
Hilter ordered the executions to be filmed so he could watch them at his leisure.
After surviving the assassination attempt, Hitler turned up his crazy dial to 11.
“Having escaped death in so extraordinary a way, I am now more than ever convinced that the great cause which I serve will survive its present perils and that everything can be brought to a good end.”
Hitler’s propaganda machine went into overdrive, portraying him as invincible and divinely protected, which simultaneously emboldened him and also increased his paranoia.
Okay, let’s talk about former President Trump.
Donald John Trump is not Adolf Hitler.
Trump started zero wars during his time in office.
Trump genocided zero people groups.
Trump did not murder his political opponents and institute a totalitarian regime.
Trump does not advocate extreme nationalism, anti-Semitism, and Aryan racial superiority.
When Trump lost the 2020 election to Biden, he did not stay in office.
It is very unserious to say Trump is the next Hitler.
(Hilariously, during Canada’s Covid trucker hysteria, right-wing stay-at-home moms were insistent that Justin Trudeau was the next Hitler, too.)
Trump is not a man of good character or moral virtue by any stretch — indeed, he is a very malevolent figure like nearly everyone else in the corporate-sponsored Democrat and Republican parties — but each and every politician is a one-of-a-kind sociopath like no other.
At around 6:11pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024, near Butler, Pennsylvania, a 20-year-old registered Republican with diagnosed major depressive disorder, Thomas Matthew Crooks, climbed atop a shed and fired eight rounds from an AR-15-style rifle.
Two attendees were critically injured and a 50-year-old former volunteer fire chief and #girldad was killed after he dove on his wife and daughters to protect them.
Trump luckily swiveled his head at the last second.
WHIZZ.
The bullet grazed the one body part Donald Trump has never used:
His ears.
You’ve all seen the video.
Trump takes a dive, as does most of the crowd.
In a matter of seconds — astounding, really — professional snipers spot, aim at, and dispatch the shooter.
Secret Service wants to get the Donald offstage immediately, but he won’t budge.
“Let me get my shoes. Let me get my shoes.”
Always the looks-first showman, even when his very life is threatened.
But then…
The old dog did a new trick.
It’s something no one had ever seen before.
Shoes back on feet, Trump rises, reaches over his security detail, and like a third-world strongman dictator, raises a fist of fury and yells in anger:
“Fight! Fight! Fight!”
The crowd (median IQ >99?) immediately starts chanting “USA! USA! USA!”
Most. American. assassination. attempt. ever.
Two days later, Trump goes back to being Trump — all bluster and bravado and showmanship.
But for a split second in time, perhaps the one and only time we will ever see it, Trump did something real.
Western civilization, whether people like it or not, finds many of its roots in Christian philosophy.
One prominent bit of theology is the concept of “Imago Dei” — that human beings are created in the image of God. That people have ultimate worth within the created order because they reflect the creator.
That’s why Christians are against the death penalty, murder, abortion, euthanasia, nuclear bombs, and high fructose corn syrup.
Whether or not a society believes in God, if that society doesn’t have a foundational belief in the sanctity of life, said society is doomed.
One can’t hate others and expect things to work out peachy keen.
A house divided against itself cannot stand.
Loving our enemies is the only way.
As author John Mark Comer says:
“We must make our heart a graveyard for hate.”
Hatred must die with us.
So if killing human beings is off the table, what should we do instead?
The person who inspired Christianity (Yehoshua ben Yehoseph, aka Jesus of Nazareth) once told a compelling short story:
A farmer’s employees plant a bunch of wheat seeds.
The farmer’s enemy then secretly plants a bunch of weed seeds.
When the wheat and weeds start growing, the employees ask their boss if they should rip out the weeds.
The boss says no.
If you rip out the weeds, you’ll rip out the wheat, too.
Better to just let it all grow together, then separate the wheat from the weeds at harvest time.
There are thousands of left-wingers, fake left-wingers, and champagne socialists on social media bemoaning the fact that Trump turned his head and isn’t currently being buried six feet under in a gold-plated Trump-stamped coffin.
These people are just as evil as the shooter.
One Twitter lady even had the gall to say,
“We were two inches from democracy.”
[In case anyone needs clarification, democracy does not = “murder those you hate.”]
The sanctity of human life is the ground on which pluralism rests.
Can we learn to live and let live?
Can we learn to plant good instead of trying to destroy that which we perceive to be evil?
Hitler thought he was ripping out weeds by killing Jews.
The CIA thought it was doing good by destabilizing “communist” democracies in Central and South America.
Some leftists think Trump needs to die.
But let’s play that out for a second.
Let’s say Trump didn’t turn his head and took a bullet to the brain.
America would be in flames right now.
Well-armed right-wingers would be purging the unarmed left.
In their question to pull out one “weed,” thousands if not tens of thousands on the left and right would be dead in the streets.
What is Donald Trump thinking right now?
Is this his Valkyrie moment?
Should he win the election and re-take the Presidency, will he see his “salvation” as grounds for a purge?
I’m dubious — certainly far more dubious than the pearl-clutchers on the left —but only time will time.
Let’s hope and pray that Trump stays focused on “making America great again” (LOL) instead of “making America less bad again.”
The latter is far more dangerous.
Let’s hope Trump remains the entertainer with a God complex instead of becoming Hitler with nuclear capabilities.
And in the meantime, let’s all plant more seeds of good and not for a second think our job is to rip out weeds.
Watch Jared A. Brock’s documentaries about slavery and trafficking and read his myth-busting biography about Jesus’s politics, economics, and philosophy.
Beautifully argued. Probably the best thing I have read by you. I’m not Christian, but you’re making me love Jesus!
