Can I introduce you to my friends?
But first, a quick life update:
Concord recently turned four.
He wrote his first word last week:
God.
Henson turns one in one week.
He dragged himself to his feet for the first time last week.
I’m broody for another baby.
Hopefully, we can afford to adopt in a few years.
Luckily, there’s a newborn in our church that I get to cuddle every Sunday.
Michelle turns forty, two days before Christmas. I turn forty in mid-January.
We’ve known each other since we were twelve.
Life flies.
Except when you’re editing!
Right now, we’re knee-deep in edits on a ten-hour Christian economics course.
It’s already taken 200% longer than we’d hoped.
No end in sight.
Very discouraging.
But it will be so so so so so worth it!
It’s the most important project we’ve ever created.
So stay tuned, and thanks for your prayers.
In the meantime, let me introduce you to a few interesting friends:
Christopher Frost
Twelve years ago, Michelle and I had supper in Wales with an English couple named Chris and Kate, and Michelle said to Chris, “Chris, I know this is strange, but I swear I recognize your voice from somewhere.
Turns out Michelle had purchased a camera lens after watching one of Chris’s hundreds of lens review videos on YouTube, narrated by his singularly distinctive voice.
After amassing 100+ million views and over 366,000 subscribers on his main channel, Chris has recently launched a new channel called Deeper Questions. (Hit the subscribe button!)
Chris and I sat down for an interview recently:
Danielle Strickland
I said to a friend recently that I’ve been in awe of Danielle’s output for about 12-13 years now.
Check out her website. I literally do not understand how she does everything she does.
It almost physically annoys me how well she’s managed to weaponize her ADHD for Jesus.
She’s high-character, and funny, too.
Here’s an interview we did on my book, A Devil Named Lucifer.
Matt Naismith and Mark Buchanan
Mark Buchanan is the most technically gifted Christian writer alive today.
Ann Voskamp (one of the bestselling Christian authors of the past century) agrees.
Mark was my writing mentor, going back to our Vancouver Island days.
I still remember the first time I saw Matt Naismith. He was a 25-year-old youth pastor, preaching to an audience of nearly 1,000. What struck me (and I voiced it to Michelle at the time) was that he was so mature for his age, and he spoke with authority.
I made a point of becoming his friend.
Matt went on to plant a church, have a few sons, adopt a son from Africa, and now mentors church planters.
He also runs The Sowers Podcast. (Go subscribe.)
Matt interviewed me on his show a few months ago, but when Matt recently interviewed Mark for episode 97, I just had to share it with others!
Enjoy getting to know some of my friends.
See you next week,
Jared
