25 Predictions for 2025
Inflation, real estate, interest rates, killer cops, suicide, and former-future President Donald Trump
Happy 2025, my friends.
Surviving Tomorrow exists to prepare you for what’s coming.
This means my articles are mostly depressing because what’s coming is mostly depressing.
(That said, I have a plan afoot to launch a Youtube channel this year to discuss how Christian economics can fix most of the world’s systemic economic woes and countless physical problems downstream.)
Predicting the future is obviously a silly thing to do, but boy is it fun to speculate. (I went 21 for 22 in 2022, 23 for 23 in 2023, and 23 for 24 in 2023.)
The future has a formula:
Chart the current trajectory (good and bad) if nothing changes + assume things will generally get worse due to human nature and the second law of thermodynamics + assume there will be major surprises that no one can predict. 😂
Today we’ll make predictions about inflation, real estate, interest rates, killer cops, suicide, and former-future President Donald Trump.
Let’s start with the good news first:
1. We do NOT all die in a global nuclear war
Nukes are for Boomers.
No one currently in possession of launch codes — not even Vlad or the Pakistanis — has the stomach or suicidality for total global annihilation.
Thank heavens for mutually assured destruction on a planetary scale. There are more than 15,000+ nuclear warheads on planet Earth, but clear through the end of 2025, the ten nuclear nations will continue their good work of keeping planet-destroying weapons out of the hands of rogue actors… for now.
This is where we cut to a banger of a quote from Albert Einstein that only a small percentage of the population will understand:
“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”
Luckily, WWIII won’t happen in 2025.
2. Trump does NOT invade Canada
Congress won’t let him.
(Yet. They will when the water wars start, and almost certainly under the pretext of a terrorist attack on America carried out by someone from Canada.)
Not that there wouldn’t be major benefits to a USA-CAD hookup:
🇨🇦+🇺🇸 Trump Is Right — Canada Should Merge With America
But it’s not going to happen, and here’s why:
Canada would become thirteen states and would get nearly 92 electoral college votes. No Republican would ever win an election again.
Trump might squeeze a little extra defense spending out of the north, if not a minor improvement on the trade balance, but that will be the extent of it.
3. Trump does NOT take back the Panama Canal
He’s just memelording all this nonsense because his base loves it.
But he might negotiate some cheaper shipping rates and reduced shipping times.
If he was smart, he’d be pushing to build the Great American Eagle Liberty Trump Canal along the US-Mexico border.
4. Trump does NOT invade Greenland
Trump is like a black bear.
They love bluff charges but rarely actually attack.
Like black bears, Trump bluffs when he’s feeling uneasy and wants to avoid confrontation.
But he might squeeze some extra value out of the Thule Air Base, and I’m sure American companies are lobbying to exploit Greenland’s rare earth minerals.
5. Justin Trudeau gets spanked at the voting booth
Canada’s Liberal-NDP globalist corporatist coalition has left the “great” white north in shambles, with the world’s highest house prices, highest consumer debt loads, over 2 million crimes per year, and an utterly demoralized population.
So naturally, they’re running like sheeple into the Conservative wolf lair.
Canadians are sleep-walking into the arms of a Conservative party that is soft on crime, timid on protecting free speech, lenient on government waste and bureaucracy, clueless on AI, abysmal at protecting young minds from indoctrination in schools, opaque on vision and specific pledges, and impotent at protecting Canadian sovereignty from international overreach by the WEF, IMF, etc.
The U.K. just suffered 14 years under remarkably similar Conservatives and now 16 million Brits are in poverty.
The Canadian Con leader Pierre Poilevre moans about the housing crisis but owns multiple homes and rental properties.
Pierre Poilevre moans about government spending but has taken more than $4 million in taxpayer money as a career politician.
44% of Canadians are planning to vote for him, thinking he’s going to fix the country.
44% of Canadians are unfathomably stupid.
6. Luigi Mangione is found guilty
But he doesn’t get the death penalty.
Just life in prison.
Where he will eventually be found suicided.
As a warning from the corporatocracy not to mess with America’s $4.9 trillion/year “health”“care” crime syndicate.
7. American taxpayers are forced to pay over $1.2 trillion in interest
The interest game is simple: Rent sociopathic power-seeking political puppets to take over governments → cut taxes on those who benefit most from society (the hyper-rich) → raise taxes and inflation on the poor → fund the budget gap by selling interest-bearing debt to the rich → compound until the masses are perpetual economic slaves to creditors.
Thanks to this homicidal economic model, America “owes” its rich creditors $36,164,146,727,045.82.
$36.1 trillion dollars.
That’s 3610 billion dollars.
That’s 36 million million.
That’s enough to build every single U.S. household a free house worth $250,000, a car worth $20,000, and a $5,200 trip to Disney.
Bankers literally stole the American dream.
And let’s note that’s just the federal debt that the elites have loaded on the nation. That doesn’t include state debts, county debts, and municipal debts. Nor does it include $17.3 trillion in consumer debt that shackles American households.
Worst of all, because interest compounds exponentially while real wealth only grows incrementally, there’s no way out of this debt doom spiral without bankruptcy or debt cancellation.
But creditors hate sound mathematics. They want interest.
So America just keeps raising taxes, slashing services, and printing more money, which creates more inflation and siphons wealth from the poor to the rich. Utter insanity. A guaranteed way to destroy the nation. It’s literally satanic.
By the end of 2025, Americans will be $1.2 trillion poorer in real wealth, breaking a new record and forking over $1,200,000,000,000 in interest to vampires for the first time in human history.
Never forget the American establishment’s big picture: Print $12.57 trillion out of thin air and get paid an extra $3.5 trillion per year in interest → make $864 billion selling Americans cheap food that makes them sick → make $4.9 trillion on healthcare that addicts people to drugs but doesn’t get them better → make $842 billion per year starting wars as a distraction.
8. Global debt grows by trillions
Total global debt topped $315 trillion in 2024.
Humanity paid over $10 trillion in interest for nothing.
So long as banks are allowed to create money out of thin air and steal people’s assets if they don’t pay them back with interest, debt will rise.
The answer, of course, is a global debt cancellation and a ban on interest.
My best guess? We finish 2025 with at least $317 trillion in debt.
9. Inflation does NOT go away
Why?
Because corporations are now at the point where they have sufficient monopoly power that they don’t give a damn about your well-being. And because they don’t have any meaningful global competition since they own all the resources, they will keep price-testing until humanity breaks.
Because of corporations, overpopulation, and resource depletion, it’s inevitable:
Prices will keep rising.
Quantity will keep shrinking. (We’re rapidly moving toward single-serving everything.)
Quality will keep decreasing. (Remember when washing machines used to last fifty years?)
Ownership will keep evaporating. (And it won’t just be music and movies.)
Best guess? 1.8–2.4% official figures, at least 4% real inflation.
4% might not seem like a lot, but that’s a $1.07 trillion/year silent tax on U.S. families.
4% inflation steals 90.5% of your wealth over your lifetime.
Inflation IS the establishment’s business model.
But don’t worry: Corporatist governments will continue to lie about the actual inflation rate, manipulating CPI to avoid paying pensioners enough to survive. Inflation is a stealth tax that robs wealth while making people believe they’re getting ahead. (The Bible rightly calls unsound money “an abomination.”)
Ignore the Feds and calculate their own inflation rate. Your bills will rise in 2025.
10. Interest rates do NOT plummet
Remember: Interest rates are still well below the 50-year average, and the people who set interest rates all have gray hair.
The fastest way to get rid of inflation is to tax the rich.
The most painful way is to tax the poor with interest.
So naturally, the elites are loading on the pain for homeowners and small businesses.
Rates will likely fall a bit, but in 2025 they won’t return to their once-freakishly low levels.
Best guess? Fed rate of 2.75–3.75%.
Still dirt cheap for billionaires who are arbitraging debt to hoover up trillions in real wealth.
Expect the government to “make payments more affordable” by lowering down payments, increasing borrowing caps, and extending amortization periods, enslaving homeowners for life.
11. The real estate market does NOT crash
Rent-trapped tenant serfs who are dying for affordable shelter are hoping for a 50+% real estate crash, but they won’t get it.
As we’ve discussed, the age of real estate crashes is over. We live in the wicked age of bankster financialization — where all houses are making the transition from family homes to massively leveraged hedge fund assets, meaning prices will continue to skyrocket for the rest of our lives.
Democracies should (and used to) target a median house price of 2–3X the median annual income of a single earner. But sadly, home“owners” are still the majority of voters, and they keep voting for corporatist parties who are sponsored by the very same banksters that have shackled the nation with trillions in debt and make 2–3X seem “impossible.”
The answer is to ban interest, outlaw the financialization of shelter, tax the hyper-elites, use the money to build and sell millions of high-quality owner-occupied eco-homes, then rinse and repeat until homelessness and housing hardship simply do not exist.
The housing crisis will worsen as for-profit land-lorders continue to exploit tenants with impunity.
Canada
Things are a bit more tricky in Canada. Millions of mortgagors are set to renew at higher interest rates, so thousands of families will sadly lose their homes to banksters in the year ahead. This could seriously constrict new debt issuance by banks, meaning fewer families can buy. One would think this would crash the real estate market, but that will likely be offset by a flood of new American money coming in to devour tenants thanks to new rental incentives. Alas, Canadian politicians will do anything but the right thing.
12. Homelessness continues to rise
Joe Biden’s handlers thought they could decrease homelessness by 25% within two years, but it lept from 582,000 in 2022 to 653,104 in 2023 to 770,000 in 2024.
Donald Trump says he will overhaul the way the country “manages homelessness”… not an encouraging phrase… but most of his proposals sound disastrous —including banning street camping and cutting funding to homeless programs and agencies. The Republican plan is to shift billions to combatting drug addiction and mental health treatment, so one imagines the cash will end up in the pockets of pharma companies.
Plus, the economic reality remains unchanged: Banks and landlords are diametrically opposed to solving homelessness.
So I’m calling 800,000+ homeless this year, sadly.
13. American cops kill 1,400+ people
American cops killed over 1,356 people in 2024, and with rising poverty, economic hardship, and existential desperation, expect several hundred more people to commit crimes that lead to law enforcement overreaction.
14. Global democracy remains in decline for the nineteenth consecutive year
Freedom House will release its annual report and it will contain more of the same — increasing authoritarianism across the planet.
Yet, sheeplike citizens will keep voting for corporate-captured mainstream parties instead of defunding the corporations who bankroll the sociopathic politicians that execute the will of private interests.
Weep for us, Athens, for we held your infant dream in the palm of our hand and smothered her to death.
15. Another Fortune 500 CEO does NOT get assassinated.
There might be several attempts.
But expect most top CEOs to level up security to near-presidential levels.
16. The world’s corporate-captured politicians will do nothing meaningful about climate change
Zero.
Coal will do great.
Emissions will reach record levels.
Rivers, lakes, oceans, and skies will continue to fill with microplastics.
We will not save the planet from ourselves.
Pollution is far too profitable for the shareholders that benefit from it.
(Quick note: If you own stock in the Fortune 500, which 99% of people with 401ks/RRSPs do, then you’re profiting from it. 🤭)
17. New global warming records are shattered
It’s just math at this point.
Unless China cuts back on greenhouse gas emissions — they emit 3X as much as the US and 10X as much as the bottom 100 countries combined — we’re breaking temperature records in 2025.
And insurance premium records, too.
18. Tech monopolies gain ground
Most would post their largest profits of all time like they did this year, but they will continue to expand their reach and market position with mergers, acquisitions, and growing monopoly power.
Shareholders will be richly rewarded as workers suffer suppressed wages, zero-hour contracts, and diminishing social safety nets.
19. Israel keeps going
Iran, Syria, Lebanon, all knee-capped.
Hezbollah, Hamas, decimated.
Expect civilian deaths to top 60,000.
Pray for peace, but brace for more war.
20. The West turns on Islam
Most countries in Western Europe are now pushing 10% Muslim and the signs are strain are everywhere, particularly around violence against women, rape gangs, criminal activity, and terrorist attacks.
Expect right-wing parties like the UK’s Reform and Germany’s AfD to make massive gains in mainstream popularity.
21. Woke peaks
As right-wing governments surge into power, expect a political slow-down on the trans rhetoric and particularly physical interventions for children.
It remains to be seen whether or not an entire generation’s minds have already been colonized by social media and if Pandora can go back into the box.
22. More people get addicted to pills
70% of Americans are on some form of medication, but the Big Pharma+Corportized “Health” “Care” cartel won’t stop until every person on earth is hooked on a dozen different overpriced pills.
Expect 110,000 drug overdose deaths in 2025.
23. Suicides reach an all-time high
There’s so much loneliness, anxiety, pain, depression, and economic desperation in the world — and suicide has become so easy thanks to death pods and other painless methods of offing oneself — that the math suggests we’ll break records for self-kills this year.
50,000 Americans commit suicide in 2025 and 700,000 globally.
24. We WON’T reach the breaking point
There won’t be a civil war in America in 2025.
British serfs will not finally overthrow the aristocracy.
Canadians will not stop voting for their corporatist masters.
There will be no year-long general strike.
There will be no nationwide riots.
No revolution.
No democracy.
(We’re past the point of violent revolution anyway. Nothing is unquellable in the age of AI, facial recognition, militarized policing, and the digital internationally connected economy. Even a yearlong global general strike wouldn’t do the trick, because the global economy is now so connected — and the masses of city people no longer own land to garden and see them through — that it would just lead to mass starvation.)
25. Most people find a way to carry on
Because human beings are a miracle.
I met a woman when I was in Transnistria — the dystopian half-nation between Moldova and Ukraine that’s controlled by the Russians — who showed me the scar on her chest where her husband tried to stab her in the heart before burning their house down and abandoning her and their two children. She still had the fortitude to smile.
I’ve visited the largest garbage dump in Africa, where thousands of men, women, and children spend their entire lives digging through the trash for anything of value. Do they know how precious and strong they are?
I’ve been to North Korea, where I witnessed malnourished children drawing water by hand from mud wells. I didn’t see a single piece of wildlife in five days — no birds, rabbits, squirrels, rodents — because they’d all been eaten. Yet our Korean brothers and sisters soldier on.
It’s awe-inspiring how resilient human beings can be — and terrifying that elites realize they can still put us through so much more pain and privation.
But we won’t give up in 2025.
In conclusion
Trajectory is everything, my dear friends.
Insanity, as you know, is doing the same things and expecting different results.
As long as we keep buying products from the same corporations, incinerating our time on the same extremist-creating social media sites, and voting for the same corporate-captured political parties, we’ll keep going where we’re already headed:
Democratic destruction, ecological collapse, and economic irrelevance.
Surviving Tomorrow exists to sound the alarm and suggest better ways forward.
