It’s tax-time here in the United Kingdom.

Like most things in this Mammon-worshipping country, it’s complicated.

Back in Canada, our tax year ran from January 1st to December 31st. That made sense.

Here in the U.K., it inexplicably runs April 6th to April 5th.

This means, unlike in most sane countries where the government presents the “2026 budget,” the UK presents their 2026/7 budget. It’s a sign of genuine mental derangement.

But it has me thinking about taxation.

Today I want to share 9 brief Christian perspectives/ideas/principles about taxation, along with 4 things you can practically do to navigate the worst of it.

This is just a conversation. Don’t get (too) worked up if you’re an atheist. ;)

1. Taxes are the result of fallenness

In the beginning, there was no taxation.

In the beginning, there was no scarcity.

No scarcity, no economics, no need for taxation of any kind.

Taxation was not part of God’s perfect plan.

Taxation is a direct result of humanity’s rebellion against the word, will, and way of God.

Throughout the Bible, tax collectors were viewed among the worst of the worst alongside sinners and prostitutes; corrupt symbols of a corrupt system that shouldn’t even exist and will not exist in the Kingdom of God.

2. Taxes are permitted by God

Because He refuses to violate human free will, God allows plenty of horrible human behavior.

Like kingship, which God warns will lead to horrible outcomes (including heavy taxation! See 1 Samuel 8:10–18)

But Romans 13:6 says it pretty clearly: “Pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God.”

3. You are not accountable for how wretched governments spend your tax dollars

It isn’t biblically mandated, but mad respect to those who risk life and livelihood to donate the portion of their tax bill that would’ve been used to fund war/abortion/euthanasia/etc to charities that save lives instead.

In Matthew 22:15–22, Mark 12:13–17, and Luke 20:20–26, Jesus is asked whether it’s lawful to pay taxes to Rome. Jesus says, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s.”

The Caesar from Jesus’s teenage years to his crucifixion was a paranoid and depraved despot named Tiberius Julius Caesar. He withdrew to Capri and oversaw a reign of terror and political purges, even of his closest allies.

Ancient writers accuse him of unbelievable cruelty and sadism, including the raping and strangulation of virgins, inventing new forms of torture which I cannot bring myself to write, desecration of corpses, and engaging in extreme sexual behavior including the abuse of boys and girls (even infants) and breaking the legs of those who complained. He killed or forced the suicide of his own adopted son, daughter-in-law, two of his grandsons, his closest advisor and his children, and hundreds of senators, equestrians, and elites, including one who carried a coin with his image into a latrine.

And what does Jesus do with the coin bearing the image of such a profoundly evil man?

Jesus tells a crowd to give him money.

Taxation isn’t the hill Jesus thinks we should die on.

Rest assured, at the end of days, Tiberius Julius Caesar will stand before God and pay for his actions. God is justice and justice will be served.

4. We should treat poverty like war

Under the old law in Deuteronomy 14:28–29, the people of God paid a special 10% tax every three years that was specifically earmarked for people in need, working out to ~3.33% per year to help the very poorest of the poor.

Most countries today spend 2–4% of GDP on their militaries.

How much more should we be investing in loving the poor under Jesus’s law of love?

5. No one in poverty should be taxed

It is wrong to extract taxation from anyone who cannot afford to feed and shelter their families. This is evil and wrong.

Over 1 in 5 people in Britain lives in poverty (14.2 million people including 4+ million children), yet the government still smashes millions will taxation.

In 2019/20, you didn’t have to pay tax on your first £12,500 in income.

But that figure has been frozen near there since then. Government after government insists they “aren’t raising income taxes”, but in reality, inflation is ensuring more and more poor people are forced to pay.

The current tax-free threshold of just £12,570 is frozen until at least 2030/31.

That’s the equivalent of taxing someone who made just £6,500 in 2019/2020. You can’t live on that. Not even close. It’s utterly demonic.

Interesting, under the old law, the tithe on livestock kicked in at animal #10, meaning the first nine were tax-free, and only one cow was due out of the first nineteen. Not to mention that all non-agricultural produce remained completely untaxed. This ensured tax relief for the poorest families, in addition to the other types of support they received.

6. No one wealthier should receive taxation payouts from people who are poorer

“Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees… to turn aside the needy from justice.” — Isaiah 10:1–2

In my country, the government taxes millions of struggling young working people and hands out free money every month to over three million millionaires.

This is a gross injustice.

This is not a just form of redistribution that Christians support.

Proverbs 22:16 says, “Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth or gives to the rich will only come to poverty.”

Support needs to be based on true need. 2 Corinthians 8:13–14 makes this pretty clear: “For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be equality.”

The focus should always be on meeting the needs of the least, not the richest.

7. We should stop taxing good behavior

“Woe to those who decree unjust laws, and the writers who keep writing oppression, to deny justice to the needy and to rob my poor people of their rights.” — Isaiah 10:1–2

Human beings run on incentives and disincentives.

We need to stop punishing work with income tax and payroll tax.

We need to stop punishing commerce with sales taxes and VAT.

We need to stop punishing development with property tax.

To give you an idea of taxation under Moses, it looked something like this:

• 10% Levitical Tithe (10% of all agricultural production was given to the religious workers for their service. See Numbers 18:21–24; Leviticus 27:30–33)

• 10% Sanctuary Tithe (10% for annual celebratory feasts to be eaten by the contributing family and their religious leaders. See Deuteronomy 14:22–27)

• 10% Charity Tithe every 3rd year (laid up in urban storehouses for religious workers, refugees, orphans, and widows. See Deuteronomy 14:28–29)

• One-time Temple Tax (A half-shekel — roughly 2 days of wages — payable once in a lifetime by every male over the age of 20. See Exodus 30:11–16)

In other words, the annual tax burden was 20% for two years, then 30% in the third year, but 10% of all three years was for parties, and the whole tax system was more of an act of worship, sharing, and mutual support that worked out to an annualized rate of ~23.33%, and even that was only on the produce of the land.

(Later, when the fallen institution of human kingship took over, new taxes emerged. 2 Kings 23:35 reports one taxation was in proportion to an assessment of people’s wealth.)

Notice how there was a small tithe on what the land naturally produced, but not on wealth produced by working with your hands.

This is why I loathe income taxes: Income tax on earned wealth punishes people for adding their labor to God’s free natural resources to create new useable value for others.

Quite interestingly, under the Mosaic law, all monetary income earned from non-agricultural work (fishermen like Peter, artisans like Paul, traders like Lydia, and craftsmen like Jesus) was exempt from income taxation.

8. We should start taxing bad behavior

“And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.”
 — Matthew 24:12

Tens of trillions in economic crime goes unpunished every year. Here’s how:

Capitalism thrives on privatizing gains to the self, while externalizing costs to others. The Cambridge economist Arthur Pigou famously observed that when the production of an item generates negative externalities, the private market will overproduce the item, even beyond what is socially optimal.

In other words, capitalism makes it easy, acceptable, and wildly lucrative to turn a profit despite horrible costs for others. Examples include industrial overfishing, deforestation, cigarette production, and the oil industry filling the ocean and our bodies with microplastics.

An honest, fair, God-honoring, humanity-respecting market would ensure a product’s price includes all of its cost to humanity.

Tax poison

While corporate shareholders poison Britons with the highest level of Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs) in Europe, U.K. taxpayers will be forced to spend over £225 billion (U$300+ billion) this year on healthcare.

It is good and moral and godly to bear each other’s burdens when it comes to things like car accidents, birth defects, genetic diseases, and other health problems outside human control.

But is it really fair that healthy people who make healthy choices should have to pay the consequences of other people’s willfully bad decisions?

Frankly, a Big Mac meal should cost $50.

Oreos should cost a tenner.

Alcohol should be for special occasions, not bingeing every weekend.

Nicotine products must include a health insurance surcharge that fully covers 100% of the cost of nicotine-related healthcare costs.

Any and all seed oils, artificial flavors and colors, synthetic sweeteners, endocrine disruptors, trans fats, PFAS, and DNA-damaging substances in or on foods must pay their own way.

This will obviously raise the price of these items to true cost, which will give shoppers with a choice: Is it worth it? Many will stop buying in favor of healthier options. This will give corporate shareholders with a choice: Will we create a healthier version of this product? Those who don’t will likely go under. Those who do will win, the nation will be healthier, and healthcare tax expenditure will fall.

Tax pollution

Nations spend tens of billions per year on healthcare costs due to corporations polluting our air, water, and land.

Any company that emits nitrous oxide, tropospheric ozone, CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, PFCs, sulfur hexafluoride, nitrogen trifluoride, VOCs, particulate matter, heavy metals, POPs, pathogens, radioactive contamination, etc, must price in the full amelioration of their product.

Tax litter

Do bananas really need to come in a plastic bag? Absolutely — if you’re trying to stretch shelf-life in order to maximize profits for shareholders.

Want to get rid of plastics in the ocean and microplastics in your baby’s bloodstream? Tax plastic out of existence.

Tax land monopolization

This is the big one. Land monopolization without recompense to everyone else is theft. Land hoarders should have to pay a fee to the community for their exclusive enjoyment of what rightfully belongs to all.

A Land Value Tax is ​​empirically the fairest tax. It reduces land speculation (land-hoarders benefiting from a rise in land values thanks to community efforts), encourages efficient land stewardship (decreasing blight and empty plots), and it’s non-distortionary (not discouraging productive activities like working, saving, building, or trading.)

People across the political spectrum have supported LVTs, including Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Stuart Mill, and Winston Churchill. Milton Friedman quipped that it is the “least bad tax.”

Having an annual land monopolization charge immediately stops people from hoarding land, which drops land prices so nearly all can afford to be sheltered, and the tax money can help the truly needy.

Tax exploitation

The Bible differentiates between earned money (from working with your own hands) and profit (from extracting a profit off the work of others.)

We should tax interest out of existence to wean society off debt.

We should tax rent profits out of existence to wean landlords off property hoarding.

We should tax dividends and some capital gains to move the economy away from $10+ trillion multi-national shareholder monopolies like BlackRock in preference to non-exploitative business models like co-operatives, for-benefits, trusts, not-for-profits, charities, partnerships, and sole proprietorships.

Tax crime

This one is something no one talks about, but it’s a no-brainer.

Let’s say one of the countless Muslim rape gangs in the U.K. abuses 100 little boys and girls in Manchester.

The cost to those children is huge — a lifetime of trauma, therapy, etc.

The cost to society is vast — police investigations, years of court battles, decades of jail time for the gang members.

What do the rapists get?

They get sexual gratification, followed by years of free food, free shelter, free electricity, free heat, free water, free clothing, a free weekly money allowance to spend on snacks and phone calls, free legal advice, free education and training, free healthcare, free prescription meds, and free dental care (something even taxpayers on the outside can’t get!)

What do taxpayers get?

They get to foot the bill.

It costs taxpayers £56,000 (U$76,000) per year to house one inmate.
High-security can cost over £130,000 (U$177,000) per year per inmate.

THIS IS NOT JUSTICE.

True justice requires all criminals to repay:

1. Their full cost to society

2. Society’s lost opportunity cost

3. Full restitution to their victims

Full cost to society

Criminals in prison should be working 60+ hours per week for $0 to cover their own costs.

Society’s lost opportunity cost

If no one committed crime, we wouldn’t need cops, bailiffs, judges, court stenographers, jail builders, wardens, guards, janitors, etc. All these people could have been working productive jobs to actually build up society, rather than maintaining a cost-free life for criminals.

Criminals owe society the compounding wealth they lost.

Full restitution to their victims

Criminals have a direct obligation to compensate their victims, too.

In the Bible, the amount of restitution varied per crime.
120% in Leviticus 6:4–5
200% in Exodus 22:7
400% in Luke 19:8–9
500% in Exodus 22:1

Instead of taxpayers being forced to pay tens of billions each year to support criminals, crime should be a $0 budget line on federal tax budgets because crime, like poison, pollution, litter, and land monopolization, should pay for itself.

Anything less is injustice.

9. Justice decreases the need for taxation

Politicians ignore this reality because they are unjust.

I don’t know why the public doesn’t clue in to this one.

Some example:

• If you allow dishonest money and bankers to inflate the money supply by printing debt-based interest-money out of thin air, inflation guarantees $1 billion in tax dollars buys less next year, meaning incoming service cuts or tax rises. But abolishing this injust does the opposite — a strengthening currency buys more each year, so you can provide just as much service on less taxation.

• If you ban profit on lending (interest on money-lending, rent profit on shelter-lending, etc), the poor and middle class keep significantly more of the wealth they create (economists estimate 30–50% of the price of everyday items is actually embedded profit on lending.)

• If you obey the Bible, ban land hoarding (Isaiah 5:8), and restore land rights to all (countless passages), you decrease the cost of living drastically and eliminate homelessness.

• If you jubilee all debts every seven years — national debt, student debt, mortgage debt, all of it — then your nation’s need for taxation falls through the floor.

Economic justice erases most of the need for taxation.

The Bible is extremely clear: Obedience to God opens His storehouses of blessing.

Tying it all together

Okay, let’s imagine if…

• We invested 3% of GDP in helping people become permanently un-poor.

• We stopped taxing everyone below the poverty line.

• We stopped using tax money to enrich the rich.

• We stopped taxing work, commerce, and development.

• We started taxing poison, pollution, litter, land monopolization, economic exploitation, and crime at their full cost.

• We got rid of dishonest money and strengthened our currency.

• We banned profit on lending, stopped land hoarding, restored land resource rights to all, and forgave old debts.

Would taxes go up or decrease?

Would poverty increase or decrease?

Would justice continue to suffer or would it “roll down like waters”? (Amos 5:24)

The answers are obvious.

The Christian view on taxation obliterates the current Mammon-worshipping model.

What you can do practically

Obviously this article is not tax advice, it’s a theological perspective.

Here are some things you may might to consider regarding tax:

1. Explore how to legally avoid as much taxation as possible

No verse in the Bible encourages illegal tax evasion. Dishonesty and fraud are sins.

Christian pay what is legally owed or due. Romans 13:6–7 says, “For this reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants… Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue…”

On the other hand, in Matthew 17:24–27, Jesus even pays a tax that he argues he doesn’t even owe.

On the other other hand, nowhere in the Bible does it command Christians to maximize their tax burden.

In Matthew 10:16–23, Jesus warns that persecution is coming and the thing to do is flee. That’s exactly what happens in Acts 8:1–4. The murder of Stephen causes the Jerusalem church to scatter far and wide.

You don’t have to let your government abuse you. You can minimize your tax burden as much as legally possible.

And if you have the ability to move elsewhere and feel called to do so, then go. Some choose to go where they’re treated least-abusively. Others choose to go where they’re treated slightly-less abusively. Radicals sometimes end up in places that are significantly more abusive because that’s where God is calling them to advance His kingdom.

2. Pay whatever tax Caesar demands without complaint or worry

Jesus hints at the idea that taxation is corrupt in Matthew 17:24–27 and Mark 12:13–17 when he suggests kings tax others but not their own.

But that doesn’t mean we should complain or worry about what we’re inevitably forced to pay.

“Do everything without complaining.” (Philippians 2:14) Taxation doesn’t get a complaint pass.

“Do not worry about your life.” (Matthew 6:25) Taxation doesn’t get a worry pass.

It’s difficult, but extremely simple.

3. Express gratitude to God for what Caesar gives back in return

Many governments in history have enslaved their entire populations.

Some still do — I’ve been to North Korea, which resembles a slave plantation far more than anything we’d recognize as a nation state.

But even the big bad government, the utterly fallen state, can be an instrument of God’s justice and protection for the poor. Romans 13:4 says the state is “God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Taxation doesn’t get an ingratitude pass.

4. Get involved in politics or support reformers who care about fair taxation

You don’t actually have to run for office to get involved in politics. (But it really would have to have fewer sociopaths actually holding the reins.)

Plenty of charities, institutes, foundations, and individuals do great work lobbying for fairer taxation.

You can stop throwing away your vote on the main establishment parties and support moral candidates instead.

In the meantime, you can support activists and reformers who are educating, raising awareness, and stirring up public consciousness about the alternatives to the horrid Mammonomics system under which we’re currently enslaved. Belief and worldview drive policy.

For this week’s article, we’re going to have a bit of fun and play a quiz.

But first, a crazy story:

When I was a teenager, I got a job at Tim Horton’s, which is this wretched Canadian coffee-and-donut chain owned by globalist vulture capitalists.

For years, Timmies had been baking their own gigantic donuts onsite, but they’d just switched to centralized donut production in a mega-factory, with local stores receiving huge cardboard boxes full of these little frozen turds to “bake” in what was essentially a giant microwave.

The new donuts were much, much smaller than the old ones.

This was not in any way debatable — on my first day at work, I held an OG blueberry fritter in one hand and an emaciated new blueberry fritter in the other. V2 was a good 30% smaller.

This was the moment when I first realized that shareholders are demon-possessed sociopaths:

The manager handed out these little pieces of paper for us to stand up beside our coffee stations. It was a script of canned responses for what to say when people inevitably complained about the smaller donut sizes.

It went something like this…

Customer: “The donuts are smaller.”

You say: “No, it just looks like that from where you’re standing.”

Customer: “The donuts are smaller.”

You say: “The donuts are actually still the same size.”

I looked at my manager and said, “But this is a lie.”

She mumbled something and waddled off.

I had recently become a Christian and decided there was no way I going to co-conspire with the devil even if it meant I got fired, so I made a joke of it.

A customer would come in and say angrily, “Hey, why are your donuts smaller today?”

Each time, I held up the piece of paper, shot them a conspiratorial grin, and said:

“I’ve been commanded to read you the following: No sir, it just looks like they’re smaller… because they are smaller.”

People got quite a kick out of reading the evil responses I was supposed to give to their objections.

I got dozens and dozens of laughs — and loads of tips — and managed to avoid losing my job.

Within a week, people had adjusted to the donut shrinkflation, so the rest of my colleagues stopped blatantly lying to our customer base.

But let me tell you, I loathe that vile company to this very day for coercing literal children to lie to adults under threat of being fired.

The Inflation Game

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been jotting down all the times I’ve noticed the effects of inflation around me.

The lying government says inflation in my country is 3.2% right now, because they are incentivized to lie — if they reported the true inflation rate (well over 10%), they’d have to pay pensioners more, which means they’d have to tax us more, which means they’ve lose their jobs. So they lie.

Our game today is simple:

Keep track of how many of these signed you’ve seen recently, then comment with your total number, plus any additional signs of inflation you’ve been noticing.

Let’s help each other tune in and pay attention to how true prices are rapidly hyperinflating and our money’s purchasing power is crashing.

_ Self-checkouts at grocery stores

_ Butter in 200 gram slices instead of 1kg bricks.

_ Highly-processed (and highly-profitable) vegetarian and vegan “food”

_ Filler ingredients (canola oil in tomato soup?!)

_ 10 eggs as the new dozen

_ Five apples in a bag that used to contain six

_ $1 fee to reserve a library book

_ $100 to submit a pre-application query to my local county council

_ Rubbish bins collected less frequently

_ Mail delivered less frequently

_ Far less maintenance and non-existent cleaning of public spaces

_ A Bakewell tart made with raspberry instead of cherry

_ Half-loaves of bread as the new standard size

_ A product labels “Almond Extract” that is actually 99% canola oil

_ $250 boots that spring leaks within one year

_ Artificial colors

_ Artificial flavors

_ Artificial sweeteners

_ Candies that were once full-candy are now half-candy-half-marshmallow

_ Guinness in 10 packs instead of 12 or 24 packs

_ A new Guinness ripoff beer for £0.10 cheaper per can

_ “Extra large” onions are the size of the old medium

_ A product labeled “Madagascan Vanilla Extract” that is actually 10% vanilla and 90% invert glucose syrup.

_ “Super Tough” garbage bags that tear with ease

_ Expiry dates just 1–3 days away

_ Fewer organic food options compared to five years ago

_ Bon Maman strawberry jam now lighter in color, sickly sweet, and visibly containing less fruit

_ Socks that last weeks instead of years

_ Products becoming impossible to actually purchase and own for life (you can only access them for a monthly fee)

How many of these signs of inflation have you seen?

• Prices going up

How to protect yourself against inflation

Let’s go ahead and assume that a.) politicians will continue lying about inflation, and b.) prices will keep going up, quantity will keep going down, quality will keep going down, and ownership will keep disappearing.

We would be utterly delusion to not assume these things will COMPOUND and get WORSE in the years ahead.

What can we do?

Obviously, we have to stop voting for sociopaths and elite-owned parties. To vote for any of them is to throw away your vote and guarantee the further strangulation of your family’s future.

On the day-to-day level, you can take one or more of seven routes to stay ahead of inflation:

1. You can play the game. Exploit others as much as possible. Load up on stocks and bonds and rental properties and every possible extractive asset you can find. Bleed others dry. Then burn in hell. (Sorry, I don’t make the rules.)

2. Start a new country that bans fractional reserve banking and doesn’t let bankers inflate the money supply by printing debt-money out of thin air.

3. Overthow your nation’s establishment through election or revolution. Abolish interest and fractional reserve. Bring back the gold standard, adopt the Bitcoin standard, or re-start sovereign money creation.

4. Move to Switzerland (strict on keeping inflation low) or El Salvador (if you want to live that Bitcoin life.)

5. Go semi, hybrid, or totally off-grid. It’s just math. Groceries and heat and power will cost more each year, so if homesteading’s your thing, there comes a point when generating your own food, firewood, and electricity makes WAY more financial sense than working a wage-suppressed job to pay monopoly prices.

6. Buy durable goods while you still can.

• Don’t become a weirdo hoarder, but if you love a certain pair of long-lasting shoes and your feet have stopped growing, buy a few pairs. After all, the price will go up and the quality will go down.

• Car parts. Light bulbs. Firewood and lumber. A home. Furniture. Raw materials.

• Any item that will last for years, where the price will go up, and the quality will go down… it’s fair game to buy now while you still can.

7. Ditch fiat currency.
Get out of $USD/$CAD/£GBP/etc.
Hold your cash in gold, silver, etc.

Note:

As a Christian, I don’t believe in storing up wealth on earth, so I’m not recommending people just sit on Smauglike piles of gold and silver. Money is for spending, giving, and interest-free lending. Saving is for necessities like a house down payment, an upcoming roof repair, car replacement, next week’s groceries, etc.

What I’m saying is that holding any money in $USD/$CAD/£GBP/etc means the guaranteed compounding devaluation of your purchasing power.

But if you don’t hold your spending money in fiat currencies, it doesn’t matter to you if fiat currencies hyperinflate.

Think about it:

If a house costs 10 pounds of gold and doesn’t change regardless of the USD price, then obviously you win.

Let’s do another one, this time related to food:

Now look at how gold “outperforms” (or rather, holds its value) compared to devaluing fiat currencies.

If you’d held all your money in gold instead of $USD for the past ten years, today you’d have more than three times as much spending power:

The moral of the story is that fiat currencies are literal theft.

They’re evil, immoral, and wrong.

Bankers stole 2/3rd of your purchasing power in the past decade.

Their plan was simple (and exploitative, though most didn’t realize it):

1. Sit on a pension pot and a house or two and watch the value of both soar (thanks to the work, debt, and impoverishment of others.)

2. Cash out to fund their sunset years in an old folks’ home.

They inadvertently shackled their kids and grandkids with suppressed wages, exorbitant prices, and humanity-high housing costs.

Most Boomers didn’t have a clue…

Many of the millions who did know didn’t care, because they have low empathy due to toxic lead exposure (true story)…

…but did ANY of them actually do the math?!

Did no one think about what was going to happen at the end?

Fact #1:

73 million Baby Boomers in the U.S. are at the peak of retirement and are about to need care.

Fact #2:

Boomers control the lion’s share of America’s stock wealth — and will liquidate it to pay for care.

That’s $25 trillion in stocks.

What happens when there’s a mass exodus from the stock market?

Who is going to buy all these stocks at overinflated prices?

The answer is: It’s not going to happen.

The Boomer stock selloff is going to send the stock market tumbling year over year over year.

Plus, artificial intelligence will send most companies to zero anyway.

Fact #3:

Boomers control the lion’s share of America’s housing.

That’s $19 trillion in home equity.

What happens when there’s a mass exodus from the real estate market?

Who is going to buy all these houses at overinflated prices?

The answer is: It’s not going to happen.

(Unless Boomers continue to flood their homelands with young immigrants who’ll mortgage themselves for life.)

Fact #4:

Baby Boomers will all need care homes at the exact same time.

And there aren’t nearly enough beds.

America needs nearly an extra million senior housing in the next four years.

The industry builds less than a tenth of that.

You thought the national median assisted living price of U$74,400/year was bad?

Exponential demand for old-age homes x chronic supply shortages = care home prices are about to skyrocket.

Private rooms in nursing homes are already U$130,000/year.

Do the math. Extrapolate.

How much will old folks homes cost when:
a.) The private equity vampires who own all the old folks homes calculate there’s tens of trillions in cash to loot?
b.) Carer labor shortages persist (due to wage suppression by private equity)?
c.) The supply of care home spots is massively constricted?
d.) Demand maximizes as a whole generation gets old at the same time?
e.) Inflation doesn’t let up for one second?

The “golden years” are going to be a financial bloodbath for the largest generation in U.S. history.

What about the United Kingdom?

Standard residential care in the U.K. is currently £67,496 per person per year.

Nursing care is £79,820 per person per year.

Dementia nursing is £81,328 per person per year.

Prices are about to go parabolic.

British economic engineering makes things even worse in the U.K., which is rapidly becoming an island of geriatrics and jihadis.

Compared to the U.S., Britain’s population is older, they have less eldercare infrastructure, Boomers control of housing is even more concentrated, care-home supply is basically frozen, the crunch arrives sooner, care costs are soaring faster, and the workforce and funding crisis has no U.S. parallel.

The U.K. saw just 2.4% bed growth over the past decade while the 65+ population grew 16%. Net supply grew by just 136 beds last year. Peak Boomer demand hits during 2030–2035, will full capacity in 2033.

Bed prices are up 10% this year alone.

Fees will accelerate 8–12+% per year for the foreseeable future.

DO THE MATH.

National median residential care could easily reach £104,000–£160,000 per person per year by the mid-2030s.

Do you know any couple that can afford to shell out £1.5 million in after-tax cash for even five years?

Remember, only 6% of U.K. care beds are publicly owned. The vast majority are owned by private, for-profit operators. They exist to serve shareholders, not our great and good grandparents.

The British social care system is explicitly designed to consume Boomer equity and funnel it to these shareholders.

They will get every single farthing.

Then what?

What happens when millions of British Boomers have been bankrupted?

How exactly does one stuff millions of old people into 6% of the beds?

Does ANYONE believe the corrupt British government will build enough public spaces for all these precious people?

Fact #5:

More and more nations are introducing and actively promoting assisted suicide.

I wonder why…

What we all must do about this time bomb

Boomers have done a very naughty thing in enslaving their kids and grandkids, but most don’t actually understand what they’ve done, and it even if they did, it doesn’t matter, because we are called to honor them anyway.

Gen X/Millennials/Gen Z/Gen Alpha:

1. Send this to every single Boomer you know. Don’t let them be blindsided.

2. Don’t repeat the choices of your grandparents.

3. Get ready to love, serve, and help them. This is your duty before God.

Boomers:

1. Wake up.
   The game is OVER.
   You cannot win.
   You are too old to buy your way out of this.
   An old folks’ home is going to cost you $200,000+ per person per year.
   A couple in the U.K. will be forking out £200,000+ per year until bankrupt, then have to find somewhere to stay while they languish on a public waiting list that will almost certainly outlive them.
   They told you what to do, you listened, and now you’re going to lose.

2. Sell it all now.
   Get out of the stock market before AI+the Boomer selloff takes it to zero.
   Give every cent to your kids and grandkids so they can get out of debt, buy homes, and start businesses, so they can actually help you.
   Hand your houses over to your kids and grandkids.
   Build yourself a pretty unit in their attic, garage, or back garden.
   It’s up to your kids and grandkids now.
   THEY are your retirement plan.
   THEY are your old-age care plan.
   THEY are your old folks’ home.
   Set them up now, before it’s too late for both of you.

(If you don’t have kids and grandkids, join a church, find some young Christians you trust, give them everything, and become family.)

The math suggests you have less than two years before this whole thing goes sideways for Boomers. Start now or ignore at your peril.

This is the game, people.

Boomers will go bankrupt if they aren’t willing to do what they should have done all along — actually really think about the future, including the one that will exist after they’re dead and gone.

Assuming human nature doesn’t change…

1.) A.I. destroys millions of human jobs

Remember when the iPhone came out and one item replaced your watch, alarm clock, calculator, phone, scanner, camera, notebook, and wallet?

Imagine how many hundreds of millions of jobs will disappear when Elon Musk’s Optimus robot becomes your house cleaner, lawyer, bookkeeper, accountant, banker, gardener, landscaper, massage therapist, physiotherapist, chiropractor, doctor, pharmacist, dentist, personal trainer, fashion consultant, shopper, cook, tutor, babysitter, psychotherapist, accountant, bodyguard, dogwalker, pet groomer, plumber, electrician, roofer, painter, roofer, air conditioning maintenance person, car mechanic, pool cleaner, barber/hairstylist, car washer, home security system, air quality monitor, self defense trainer, yoga instructor, self-defense coach, manicurist, psychotherapist, marriage counsellor, and personal assistant.

Plus it will generate articles, books, podcasts, TV shows, and movies custom-made just for you, in real time.

2.) A.I. creates <1% of the jobs it destroyed

Capitalist sycophants and other Mammon worshippers still haven’t come around on this one yet, but they will.

A.I. is unlike any technology in human history.

This is it.

All previous technologies have replaced manual tasks.

The techbro goal for AI is to replace human thought.

A.I. is the omni-machine.

All previous technologies did a thing.

A.I. will do everything.

At least, it will do everything the shareholder economy is willing to pay for.

“Non-productive” things like loving your neighbor, taking care of children, caring for the environment, and serving dying grandparents will still be done by humans, but don’t expect a fat paycheck from the AIconomy. These things don’t have any “value” to shareholders.

3.) Elite-controlled governments refuse to tax the rich

Nothing new here.

Despite the mounting joblessness crisis — it will rapidly approach Great Depression levels in the next five years — governments will NOT meaningfully re-distribute the gains accruing to the billionaire and trillionaire class.

4.) Governments ramp up borrowing from elite-controlled banks to support millions of jobless families.

Politicians aren’t doing this out of the good of their hearts.

They know they’ll lose power if they don’t.

So long as the people have bread for their childredn, they won’t cut off Marie Antoinette’s head.

In our lifetime, Universal Credit/UBI/Welfare/Income Support will be the way most people subsist.

You think government debt levels are crazy today?

The 2030s will say, “Hold my robot-crafted beer.”

5.) Bankers print that money to lend out of thin air

Because that’s what bankers do.

When governments come knocking to borrow trillions in cash to keep their people from rioting, the banks will fire up their money-printers.

Of course, taxpayers will have to pay back this made-up money and interest with real work, but that’s a problem for the bottom 99%.

Printing more money will obviously inflate the money supply, which means…

6.) Price inflation follows rapidly

See: math.

As trillions of extra dollars flow into the economy to keep the jobless masses from starving, the deluge of cash will make the Covid money-print look like a light shower.

Ten years from now, your weekly grocery shop will be 3–10X what you’re currently paying. Don’t even think about your energy bills or rent.

7.) Inflation = everyone except the elites gets materially poorer

…even though half the population will be paper millionaires, and those with jobs will make six figures.

Extra zeroes don’t mean you’re materially richer.

8.) Prices continue to compound until society breaks

We’ll look at today’s government debt figures and chuckle at how small a few trillion seemed.

That is, when we aren’t weeping because the cost of everything is beyond our wildest imagination.

(Some governments might even re-price… lob off a few zeroes… to give the illusion that price inflation isn’t totally out of control.)

Compounding inflation always leads to civil wars and revolutions.

That’s why the elites are gold-rushing for A.I. control of politics, surveillance, the military, and money itself, before the breaking point.

Then they can quell the inevitable uprisings and usher in an A.I.-controlled neo-feudalism for all.

M’lord.

The clock is ticking

We have 6–18 months to make Christian Economics go global or humanity is in MAJOR trouble.

Christonomics basics include:

• Sustenance rights for all (food, shelter, heat, etc.)

• Honest money that doesn’t lose its value.

• No profit on lending (including shelter.)

• Jubileeing debt.

• Contributive work instead of parasitism.

• The end of wealth hoarding.

• Fairness-based taxation.

• A robust social safety net for the poor, the vulnerable, and the elderly.

In my early twenties, I played basketball every week with my friends and their neighbors.

I was appallingly competitive and often got into rows, after which I would go home, calm down, and write apology emails.

One day, I was so tired of this routine and disgusted by myself.

“What am I doing?” I said to myself.

“I am going to turn off my competitiveness.”

And I did.

Since that day, I’ve never been competitive with sports and games.

I still try to do my best, but I do so for fun, exercise, friendship, and to exceed myself.

I save my competitiveness for trying to best my previous writing. I want to be competitive for the kingdom of God. I want to be a better dad than yesterday.

It’s been raining here in my part of England for 42 straight days.

Last week, we returned from Wales and discovered our largest stone wall is leaking floods water into our attic and rafters.

Builders are quote us £10,000 sums that we do not have at the moment.

I find myself camping on Matthew 6:25.

“Do not be anxious about your life.”

This is a direct command from Christ.

Anxiety is a sin.

Worry is a sin.

Sin means “missing the mark.”

To be worried or anxious is to disobey Jesus.

All worry and anxiety is just a lack of faith in God’s goodness anyway.

So I am experimenting.

Can I turn off worry and anxiety as I once did with athletic competitiveness?

With the Holy Spirit’s help, I think I can.

Instead of worrying or being anxious, what can I do about our leaking wall?

I can ora et labora — I can pray and work.

1. I can do whatever is within my power to get the wall fixed.

2. I can ask God to do everything in His power to provide the funds to get the wall fixed.

3. When I’m not doing one of these two things (because I’m sleeping or feeding my boys or whatever), I can simply choose to not thing about the wall, trusting that it is still on God’s mind.

And besides — worrying doesn’t fix the wall.

Anxiety adds nothing.

In fact, it makes us less sharp.
Less able to work and pray.

To worry is a form of insanity.

It’s utterly useless.

Long-term, we need financial breakthrough with my career.

Short-term, we need an economic miracle to get this wall fixed before the rafters rot and the roof collapses.

But in the meantime, I feel more peace than I’ve ever felt.

It’s an exceedingly strange new territory.

I will let you know how the experiment goes.

If God can help me turn off worry and anxiety, what else can I turn off?

Impatience?
Anger?
Lust?
Greed?
Sloth?
Gluttony?
Judgment?
Wanting to imprison everyone who doesn’t use the Oxford comma?

Last week, my four-year-old son and I were winding our way through the wonderful, wild West Wales countryside, playing Would You Rather.

Concord is instinctually brilliant at this game.

Me: “Would you rather have a gigantic house or a tiny house?”

Concord: “A medium house. A big house is too expensive, and we can’t have people over in a tiny house.”

Me: “Would you rather eat a poop sandwich or a puke sandwich?”

Concord: “Neither. That’s disgusting and I would have an owie belly. You can eat a poopy puke sandwich.”

Me: “Would you rather have pineapple juice or apple juice.”

Concord: “Both. I love pineapple juice, apple juice, cranberry juice…”

He listed a dozen fruit-based beverages, then informed me the car was in third gear and calculated he’ll be 65 when I’m 100.

Like his old man, Concord has always had a killer instinct for spotting false dichotomies.

False Dichotomy:

Noun. A false dichotomy, false dilemma, or false binary is a logical fallacy that presents only two extreme, opposing options as the only possibilities, when in fact more alternatives or a spectrum of choices exist. Often used in persuasion, it forces a choice between “either-or” options to oversimplify complex issues.

I didn’t teach Concord about false dichotomies.

But boy, do I applaud him for spotting them.

He snipes them daily.

And he intuitively grasps the three correct responses to a false dichotomy:

1. Neither

2. Both

3. Something else

Let’s break them down…

Brock’s Law: When given two bad options, choose NEITHER.

This especially applies to two-party politics.

Republican vs Democrat, Conservative vs Liberal/Labour… these are only “choices” for sub-100 IQ folks, not for conscious adults with substantial intelligence.

Voting for the atomically-lesser of two evils is still voting for behemoth amounts of evil.

Choose Neither applies in your corporate grocery store when one option is high-priced and the other is low-quality. Just walk away.

Same for the Drake vs Kendrick feud. Or Taylor Swift vs every male she’s ever been with. Choose neither.

Same for banks when they offer you two crappy account options.

Same for insurance comparison sites.

Fox vs. CNN.

TikTok vs IG.

All junk food.

All smartphones.

The list goes on and on.

You have agency.

You have the right to say no.

Exercise it endlessly.

When given two great options, choose BOTH.

Should you love your eldest child or your youngest child?

Choose both.

If you want to get in shape and love weightlifting and basketball, why force yourself to choose?

Even my one-year-old understands this one. When I hold out a hunk of grilled beef and a slab of roasted lamb, he snatches both with his greedy little fists.

Can’t decide between two pairs of amazing shoes? Buy both and put one pair in the closet for 2028. After all, thanks to inflation, you can guarantee the price will go up and the quality will go down by then.

When given two bad options, create a THIRD OPTION.

Capitalism vs communism is the perfect example.

Extreme right-wingers would have you believe the only two options are “capitalism” (rules-free-market shareholder colonialism) or Stalinist-Nazism.

Take a hard pass on both.

I prefer a third option: Christian economics.

Instead of the compounding tyranny of individuals owning everything (capitalism) or a despotic government owning everything (communism), the world should accept the reality that God owns everything and He gets to decide how we should allocate His things. (This is all laid out in the Bible, and surprise surprise, it decentralizes wealth out of the hands of powerful individuals and out of the hands of powerful governments.)

Corporate politicians are excellent at proffering nation-destroying false dichotomies.

Two examples:

Import vs export

Establishment politicians would have you believe that the nation will collapse overnight if we don’t 1.) ink free trade deals to import cheap goods from overseas, or 2.) let corporations import an unlimited number of lower-paid workers from foreign cultures and anti-cultures.

“Prices will soar if we don’t do one of these two things,” they lie.

But there’s a third way:

Stop swamping the country with cheap foreign labor (because it suppresses domestic wages, stop exporting jobs (because it suppresses domestic wages), stop swamping the country with cheap goods (because it kills domestic businesses), and instead just let domestic wages soar.

The classic example of this is the Black Death bubonic plague that hit Scotland in 1349. Fleas on rats killed a third of the population, but because the elites couldn’t import a million daycare-scamming Somalians, the wages of Scottish commoners tripled.

Imagine if the nation couldn’t:

A.) Import cheap workers
B.) Export jobs overseas
C.) Import cheap goods

What would happen?

Goods would have to be made at home.
Shareholders would have to compete for workers to make said goods.
Parasitic shareholder profits would plummet (boo-hoo.)
Worker wages would skyrocket.
Workers would spend their massive earnings on domestic goods, which would create more high-paying domestic jobs.

Unemployment and poverty would disappear while national unity strengthened.

Or we can let shareholders continue to metastasize an economy of illegal gig workers…

Never ever ever forget: In 1970 (before the printing-money-out-of-thin-air scam really took off), the American median household income was $8,730, or 233 ounces of gold. That’s the equivalent of earning $1.16 million per year today.

(In case you’re wondering where all that wealth disappeared to, ask the 3,000-strong billionaire class that didn’t exist in 1970…)

Tax vs cut

Whether it’s the silver-tongued central bankster Mark Carney in Canada or the slithery corporate-worshipping “Labour” PM Keir Starmer in the U.K. or the fishy-rotten “fiscally responsible” Republican party in the U.S., all mainstream parties will lie through their teeth and tell you there are only two options to deal with budget deficits — raise taxes or cut services.

But there’s a third way that actually lowers taxes and improves services simultaneously: Ban banks from creating money out of thin air.

If you stop banks from inflating the money supply, inflation disappears, prices go down, and money increases in value.

When C$1/C$1/£1 is worth 1.10, you can cut taxes by ~3-5% and improve services by ~3–5%.

But corporate politicians lie and say the “only” options are to raise taxes and cut services, because their corporate sponsors want banks to retain the power to print debt-based money that has enabled the rich to capture over 80% of the world’s wealth in the past fifty years.

Run a quick thought experiment

Think of all the different people who are currently forcing you into making choices that not only aren’t the best options, but are often in diametric opposition to your wellbeing.

Politicians. Vote for us or it’s guaranteed doom.

Economists. It’s either a booming economy or a recession.

Personal finance gurus. You have to save your money or invest it.

Corporations. You have to spend through the nose for quality or buy shoddy on the cheap.

The university cartel. Go to college or you won’t succeed.

“Traditionalists” vs. “Progressives”: you cannot have both.

Entertainers. Dubious “true art” or dumbed-down mass appeal.

Culture warriors. Tolerance means accepting all viewpoints or none at all.

Who else is trying to make you choose against your best interests?

In conclusion

False dichotomies are a form of intentional psychological manipulation for the purposes of exploiting others.

False dichotomies are morally wrong.

False dichotomies are evil.

That’s not to say we’re all horrible parents when we give our kids two options, or that we’re trying to manipulate our spouse when we given them two dinner or movie options.

If we do these things intentionally to force a decision, that’s bad.

If we refuse to let people choose neither, both, or a third option, that’s wrong.

The Golden Rule: We should treat others the way we would want to be treated if we were in their position.

Unfortunately, capitalists and corporatists and shareholders and landlords and bankers and politicians have a different Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules.

Selfishness is the opposite of self-sacrificial love.

When selfishness is allowed to flourish, we end up with a society ram packed with false dichotomies across politics, economics, finance, shopping, education, entertainment, news, relationships, and the culture wars.

Selfishness needs a sturdy heel to crush its neck.

Goodness is thinking about the interests of others and seeing them as more important than ourselves.

it screams in all-caps.

I ignore it.

A week later, an email hits my primary inbox.

ANTHROPIC LAWSUIT DEADLINE

I open it.

Seems my very first book, my baby, the memoir of my insane 37,000 pilgrimage around the world — where I went to North Korea, walked across a bed of hot coals, went to a nudist church, and all sorts of other shenanigans — has been “read” by an artificial intelligence algorithm and tucked into its knowledge bank.

I am furious.

I yell.

I kick.

I scream.

I hurl my laptop across the room, shattering the patio window.

Out in the yard, the laptop battery explodes, blinding my firstborn, killing my neighbor’s dog, and sparking a fire that burns down the neighborhood.

Luckily, no one dies, and insurance pays out swiftly.

I click delete.

A week later, my writing mentor emails me:

Anthropic Class Action Suit

Dude’s a heavy-hitter.

Not the biggest-bestest-sellingest, just the best living writer I’ve ever read.

Pushing into Patrick Leigh Fermor territory.

He says,

Are you aware that at least one of your books — A Year of Living Prayerfully — was pirated by Anthropic, a huge AI co., to train the beast?

There’s a class action suit against Anthropic. The projected settlement is $1.5B, which will cash out at $3K USD per book. You stand, after lawyer fees and the publisher’s cut, to make, oh, $5 or thereabouts.

Interesting that he called it “the Beast.”

AI very well might be used by that very spirit to manifest itself someday.

I wrote a whole white paper on the possibility of an AI Anti-Christ.

$3,000 per book, eh?

I punch up the lawsuit website.

Tort lawyering.

What a fun job.

Suing shady corporations for billions.

Good work if you can stay alive.

Turns out three of my books have been pirated by the AI.

I do the math.

Then I get back to work.

Another week passes.

My old literary agent emails me:

Anthropic Settlement Information

I am invited to join The Authors Guild to max my chances of the highest possible payout.

I don’t even reply.

Two weeks later, my old literary agent’s business partner follows up:

I am given a false dichotomy.

I can opt out.

Or I can submit a claim.

Brock’s Rule: When given two options you don’t want, choose neither.

Apply this when voting.

I type a vague one-line courtesy reply so the agents know I’m not being rude by ignoring them.

I do not explain why I will neither participate nor waste time not participating.

But I will tell you, dear reader, the three reasons why I couldn’t be bothered to join the mad scramble for $9,000 minus tort lawyer fees:

1. I kinda love digital piracy

I don’t love it when people sell my books and films without recompense, but it costs me zero when someone grabs a digital copy of one of my books or films to just read or watch.

I’ve taken this stance from Day One.

Every reader who can and will pay for my books can and will pay for my books.

Those who can’t or won’t?

They’re clearly not my customers…

…but I still want them to read my books.

So I never take down my books and films from pirate sites.

The hope is that they’ll love my stuff so much that they’ll pay for the next one and become lifelong readers.

Worst-case scenario, I get to plant some thought seeds that can grow into something beautiful and helpful.

It’s a strange perspective, but there you have it.

Point number two.

This is the one that a tiny-but-loud handful of close-minded readers will inevitably attempt whinge about in the comments:

2. Suing people gives me the ick.

It isn’t really the Christ-like thing to do.

How exactly does God gain glory from me suing a robot for stealing a digital file?

Jesus literally died for his murderers — do we really think he’d sue someone who ripped a digital copy of his patent-pending Sermon on the Mount™©?

Christians tolerate robbery.

The only thing of any true value is untakeawayable.

In Luke 6:30, Jesus says, “Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods, do not demand them back.”

In Matthew 5:40, he says, “If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also.”

Jesus himself puts this into practice by giving Judas Iscariot control of their company’s money purse, despite knowing he was a thief, perhaps as a way of inviting him to a life of integrity.

In 1 Corinthians 6:7, the Apostle Paul writes, “To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?”

Every time a Christian is robbed and doesn’t demand repayment, their heavenly bank account grows richer.

Christian economics is nuts, isn’t it? It’s all about the character of Jesus.

You can see how it absolutely repulses non-Christians and fake Christians.

3. I want to train AIs

Think about it.

Either we feed the machine with truth, or it will only know lies.

Besides, there’s no comparing an AI response or AI summary to my human-written books and films.

They’re just way better, and it’s a totally different experience.

I’m fresh back from a weeklong birthday stay at a convent in Rome.

I’m forty now.

A half-lifer.

Middle-aged.

Over the hill.

Ancient.

At ten, I thought thirty was on death’s door. Now I have friends in their seventies and eighties who feel like spring chickens.

What have I learned so far?

Here are 40 quick things that will save you years of wasted time…

1. “Save the best for last” is terrible advice.

A French monk taught me this one. Every morning, I put on the newest pair of socks in my drawer. Why wear the rattiest pair? When I sit down to eat, I eat the tastiest bits first. Why let them get cold? After every shower, I put on my favorite clean t-shirt. I have a great bottle of 10-year-old Laphroaig scotch in my cupboard, but I probably won’t drink it for months because I received two bottles of reactor-aged Lost Spirits single malt for Christmas.

Why? Because life is hard enough and we aren’t promised tomorrow. This doesn’t mean we should throw caution to the wind and “live in the moment” at all times, but it does mean we should try to find the golden middle and glean a little bit of pleasure from every day we’re blessed to live. “Save the best for last” is poverty-mentality thinking. It expects worse in the future. Enjoy the best right now — in your marriage, parenting, work, travel, faith, friendship, contribution. Keep all the chips on the table. Be ready at all times to leave without regret.

2. Tools use us.

A hammer literally cannot hit a nail without using a human.
A saw cannot cut through a board without using a human.
A phone cannot deliver ads without using a human.

3. Avoid false dichotomies.

When given two great options, choose both.
When given two horrible options, choose neither.

4. Failure is overcome by one word.

“Next.”

5. Unbridled ambition is ruinous for your happiness.

Most goal-setters (myself included) live much of life in anticipation of tomorrow, and when that day arrives, they’re either disappointed by their failures or underwhelmed by their successes.

Instead: trust the process. Whiskey, pasta, bread, beer, and cereal all require just two ingredients — wheat and water — but the outcome is completely different based on the process. Identity precedes action. Determine what you want to be, then find the process that will get you there every single time.

6. Forget what the market wants.

Listen to your gut. Your body knows the difference between good and great. Someone said you should never record a song or code an app or write an article unless it makes you laugh, cry, or orgasm. If an idea doesn’t move you, it won’t move an audience, no matter how “commercial” you think it is.

Life is more than profits for shareholders.

7. Give yourself a shove.

The best way to eat more candy, drink more vodka, and smoke more cigarettes is to leave them in the middle of the kitchen counter.

You get it. Willpower is useless. Instead, line up a series of little nudges to automatically get you through your day. If you want to work out, leave your shorts by the door or your cleats in your fridge. My radiation-blocking boxers rest on top of my laptop so I automatically protect my fellas before logging online. I can’t not see my vitamins when I brush my teeth. There’s a journal beside my bed.

Line up enough nudges and you can shove yourself in the right direction.

8. Grandma didn’t use toilet paper.

She used pages from the Sears catalog.

Splinter-free wasn’t available until 1935.

The Romans used sponges.

The Greeks used clay.

Francois Rabelais recommended using “the neck of a goose.”

Arabs used their left hand.

Never assume your extremely unique moment in history is “normal.”

9. Ninety-nine isn’t enough.

Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.

The difference between 99 and 100 is the difference between zero and one.

Not-boiling, boiling.

Corollary: 101 doesn’t make it any more boiling.

Apply this truth to every ounce of effort you ever expend.

10. Old people know better.

Honoring our elders is one of the most underrated practices in our newness-obsessed society. Sure, there are a ton of old, crazy conspiracy theorists, but there are also good people who have survived four wars, six recessions, and twelve presidents, and are somehow still smiling. Get to know them.

Also: meet your old-person self. One of the words I’ve invented is preflection. To ponder the present through the eyes of your future self. Take an hour in silence to listen to your eighty-year-old self. They might know something you don’t.

11. Consider firing all your employees.

The employer-employee relationship creates an unhealthy power dynamic between humans that simply didn’t exist when we worked cooperatively to feed our clan or village.

I love my work life so much more now that I only work with independent entrepreneurs who are my equals. For me, it’s either a one-man show (my writing business), an equal partnership (my film company), or a co-operative endeavor. Life’s too short to be a boss or be bossed around.

12. Accept that you are a voracious locust of doom.

Nail a roll of paper to the wall and write down everything you consume for a year — food, toilet paper, electricity, car fuel, movies, music, social media content, other people’s time.

See what I mean?

Saint Augustine said that the human heart can only fully be satisfied by one thing aside from God himself: everything. All the sex, all the money, all the power, all the possessions, all the glory. All of it. Nothing short of everything could ever fully satiate the human heart. We are wired for more.

Only the Infinity can fulfill infinite desire.

Understanding this truth is the first step toward real contentment.

13. Awkward is awesome.

My best friend says that The Office gave society a beautiful gift: the ability to embrace cringe. When you meet someone new, and it’s slightly weird, pretend you’re Michael Scott. Just glory and bask in the discomfort.

You can awkward-proof your life by being bold: Ask for discounts. Ask for refunds. Ask for phone numbers. Ask for pay raises. Ask inappropriate questions at inappropriate times. Lather yourself in awkward and pretty soon nothing sticks.

14. Happiness isn’t the purpose of life.

Hitler really was following his bliss by offing millions of Jews.

I’m sure Jeffrey Dahmer genuinely enjoyed the taste of human flesh.

Bernie Madoff seemed content to bilk charities for decades.

Happiness isn’t the purpose of life. It’s not even in the top ten. Happiness is a seasonal fruit, not a foundational root. Find firm and fertile ground.

15. There is no ugly.

My grandpa re-proposed to my grandma on their fiftieth wedding anniversary and called her the most beautiful woman he’s ever known. Old wrinkly grandma? Yes. Because we choose our definition of beauty through our thoughts, disciplines, habits, and patterns, be they conscious or otherwise.

Super-deformed Rob Hoge is one of the most attractive men I’ve ever seen. Why? Because his face is irrelevant to his message.

16. We are what we consume.

The statistical average American is a walking bodybag of sugar, alcohol, caffeine, porn, pills, and digital stimulus. Imagine how different life would be if our only inputs were nature, sleep, sunlight, organic food, and embodied human interaction?

Guard your inputs carefully.

17. We’re going to die quite soon.

Make sure you live first.

Practicing memento mori will help.

18. Fame is poison.

One in four Gen Zers thinks they’ll be famous by age 25.

Why do people desire the attention of strangers? Because we all need to love and be loved, to know and be known, but are too afraid to risk personal heartbreak to seek it out. Attention is not affection. Influence is not intimacy.

19. Boomers are to blame for half our troubles.

One of the many landlords I served told me she wished she could win the lottery.

She owned four houses and drove an Audi SUV.

The Me Generation took a free ride at the planet’s expense and is hellbent on taking the rest of it with them. They’re statistically low on empathy — blame the lead, asbestos, and hairspray if you must — but society needs to acknowledge the reality that life is hard for everyone, and no one has it easier.

The next generation needs to commit itself to not repeating the exploitation cycle.

20. Children are dope.

I have two boys. I want ten. Little kids are the blood transfusion in our sick system. Children remind us to protect the innocent, to see the world with wonder, and to always ask questions. We need to stop manipulating, brainwashing, colonizing, and propagandizing them, and learn from them instead.

21. It doesn’t have to hurt.

Joy is a choice.

As the saying goes, “Pain is mandatory, suffering is optional.”

22. Watch comedy before calls and meetings.

Five minutes of gut-busting laughter will prime you for even the most tedious conference call. Your co-workers and customers all have tough lives like everybody else, so brighten their day by pre-brightening your own.

23. No ragrets.

Tattoo it on your neck. Most people play it far too safe. Instead: optimize your life for the least number of regrets and the most amount of selfless contribution.

24. There are better ways to vote.

I’ve manned several local voting stations, and I’ve also hob-nobbed with politicians in Canada, America, and the UK. I’ve met congressmen, MPs, party leaders, senators, lords, an ambassador, even a king.

The reality is that they don’t work for us.

They work for their corporate sponsors and private interests.

Democracy isn’t dead. It just hasn’t happened yet, with all attempts to date being stillborn or aborted.

Democracy = one voice one vote. Athens wasn’t a democracy — women, slaves, and tenants had zero say. America isn’t a democracy either — no representative system is, because it’s far too easy for private interests to buy politicians. The charade of voting is illusory. All elections are sham elections.

So what to do? Vote with your money and time and attention.

One sham vote every four years versus tens of thousands of dollar-votes each year? It’s a no-brainer. My wife and I haven’t stepped foot in a Walmart in more than a decade because thousands of its suppliers are based in China, the billionaire heirs are anti-democratic tax-avoiders, and they treat their employees like indentured servants. Vote for pro-democracy third-party candidates if you must — just understand the game, and vote in the ways that actually matter.

25. Everything easy has already been done.

So run a little further.

And if it hasn’t been done, it won’t be as easy as it appears. The question to ask is: what’s been standing in the way this whole time? Achievement is all about knocking down obstacles. Just make sure what’s on the other side is rightly worth the effort.

26. Broccoli still tastes terrible.

But you’re not a child anymore.

Adults do hard things.

27. Fixed-order scheduling > fixed-hour scheduling.

Discipline is great, but it’s also subject to the law of diminishing returns. Life is just too dynamic to schedule with military precision. Free yourself from the tyranny of “only people who wake up at 5 AM are successful.”

All hours are not created equal. It depends on your sleep drive and chronotype. Know yourself. Unapologetically get more sleep, then do your best work at your best time in your best state.

28. “Freedom” isn’t freedom.

America wasn’t founded on freedom. America was founded on violent autonomy.

The ancient Greeks had an entirely different definition of freedom: it was the ability to choose the right regardless of circumstance.

“We talk about freedom all the time, but we’ve stopped talking about freedom a long time ago. Now we’re talking about autonomy. Freedom is different than autonomy. Freedom has boundaries. Truth is one of those boundaries. And morality is one of those boundaries. Autonomy is the ability to do whatever you want whenever you want in whatever way you want. The problem is this: If I’m autonomous and another person is autonomous, and I have preferences and those matter more than the truth, and that person has preferences and their preferences matter more than the truth, when two autonomous preference-seeking beings come together and their preferences don’t match, who is going to win? If truth is on the bottom shelf, truth won’t decide. What will decide will be power. And isn’t it ironic that in our quest for “freedom”, someone gets enslaved?” — Abdu Murray

29. The Marines were right: slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

As teenagers, my friend Tyler and I were in a hurry to get somewhere quickly, so we drove 120+ miles per hour for forty-five straight minutes before nearly crashing when the speed burned a foot-long gash through the tire. By the time we replaced it with a spare, we were late to our destination by more than an hour.

But nevermind driving. Pump the life-brakes sometimes, or at least, let off the gas. You might get there faster, with less wear-and-tear on the engine.

30. The quest for wealth is destroying life.

We’ve commodified land, water, shelter, clothing, art, time, and nearly everything else. Very little remains, and it’s amassing into fewer hands.

We need a shared global vision. My invented word for it is benevitae: the sustainable flourishing of all creation. Widest-spread wellbeing. Our collective goal should be socioenviroeconomic sustainability. Where to start? We’d do well to let biology determine ecological sustainability and real democracy to determine economic fairness. Our current trajectory is worse than the Space Shuttle Challenger.

Mammon is false God.

31. Most “leaders” aren’t leaders.

Celebrities, politicians, and book-hocking business gurus all call themselves leaders. They’re not.

Real leadership is influence that serves.

True leaders are selfless and servant-hearted. They put the best interests of others ahead of their own. Politics and media, by comparison, attract sociopaths like flies to firelight. Never give power to those who seek it. Nearly everyone worth following is dead.

32. Divide-and-conquer is a business model.

Near the end of high school, dozen friends and I binge-watched multiple seasons of LOST in our friend Mike’s basement. It was one of the most hilarious, riotous, enjoyable experiences we had as a group.

And it was the last show we ever watched together.

People used to go to restaurants in large numbers, to the movies by the dozen, climbing over each other for one of the limited video game controllers, packing out our churches, cheering on our sports teams by the busload. We were almost never alone, and we were far happier. Now we order in, binge Netflix, play Minecraft, catch the highlights, watch porn, scroll socials, and go to bed. It’s killing us.

Resist the urge to be alone. It’s too easy, and it’s the exact opposite of what we really need. The #1 thing that’s correlated to human happiness is human togetherness.

33. Self-improvement won’t save us.

The great lie of individualist-consumerist culture is that we can improve our way to personal perfection and communal utopia. We can make huge improvements, but perfection simply isn’t possible. The pursuit of perfection is incrementalism at best.

It’s just chasing infinity.

34. We know nothing +/-.

On the scale of all that is known, and all that is knowable, our individual understanding is essentially mathematically zero. The entirety of human knowledge is a rounding error.

This is the beginning of humility.

35. It’s never too late to change everything

Blow on your hand. You just lost millions of skin cells. But don’t worry: You regenerate all the cells in your body every twelve years. You are literally not the same person you were yesterday or a decade ago.

You can change.

You know what you need to do to get where you want to be.

36. Busy is for low-IQ people.

One of our family’s watchwords is anti-busy.

Keep a light schedule.

Most of us should probably focus on doing a maximum of three things extremely well— kingdom work, loving your people, stewarding the health of your temple.

37. Ask great questions.

How to know if you are asking great questions?

The best questions don’t generate answers, they generate stories.

Stories stick in your mind better than facts.

The greater your questions, the greater your knowledge, wisdom, and life will become.

38. You can just do things

Marc Andreessen: “The world is a very malleable place. If you know what you want, and you go for it with maximum energy and drive and passion, the world will often reconfigure itself around you much more quickly and easily than you would think.”

What are the stakes if you don’t?

William Blake: “I must create a system, or be enslaved by another man’s. I will not reason and compare: my business is to create.”

39. The world desperately needs Christian economics

Christians lend (money and houses) to bless, not to profit.

Christians work and do commerce to bless, not to profit off the work of others.

Christians believe in honest money, not inflationary debt-money created by banks out of thin air.

Christians believe in land rights for all, not the monopolization of “property” that forces people in need to submit to the exploitation of landlords, bankers, and shareholders.

Christians believe in real, ongoing liberty and freedom from economic exploitation, including debt deletion.

Christians believe in practicing generosity until there is no need.

Sadly, even most Christians don’t know what the Bible actually says about economics, so we have work to do.

40. The sun is not on fire

I was at an observatory in the Davis Mountains in Texas, and it was the first time I’d paid attention to astronomy since grade school. For three decades, I’d wrongly assumed the sun was a giant ball of flames.

But there’s no fire in space because there’s no oxygen in space. (It just looks like fire because of how our eyes perceive light through the atmosphere and prism.) As I stared at the real-time image of the sun on the observatory wall, I nearly wept. The sun actually looks like a giant, boiling, grey brain.

And then it hit me: I have so many assumptions to set aside and so much left to learn.

So pay attention. Don’t worship the “question everything” mantra, but instead spend your life seeking truth, wisdom, and understanding.

Everything is not as it seems.

I walked into a British grocery store last week and saw one of my favorite staff members, David, shivering, despite wearing layers of sweaters, a jacket, and a hood.

“It’s 10.6 degrees in here,” he said. “The legal minimum is 13.”

(That’s 51°F for Americans.)

The poor checkout lady, a dear woman in her sixties, beeped through our purchases with woolen gloves on her hands and half-frozen fingers.

Tesco.

A miserable experience for its customers, a miserable experience for its employees.

I thought to myself: “What is the point of capitalism, exactly?”

As I walked home from the grocery store, I thought about John Barnett.

Dude discovered Boeing was cutting corners and was causing the deaths of hundreds of people in plane crashes.

So he did the right thing.

He whistleblew.

And they killed him halfway through his testimony.

Boeing.

Deadly for customers, deadly for employees.

What is the point of capitalism, exactly?

As I unloaded my groceries, I thought about Steven Donzinger.

He’s the one who exposed Chevron for committing the Amazon Chernobyl, poisoning tens of thousands of Ecuadorians.

Chevron’s reaction?

Destroy his life.
Sued him.
Got him disbarred as a lawyer.
Denied him a jury.
Got him sent to prison.

Chevron.

Deadly for suppliers, deadly for the planet, life-destroying for the truth-tellers.

What is the point of capitalism, exactly?

The point of capitalism is dead simple:

Create profits for shareholders.

That’s it.

That’s the legal, fiduciary reason corporations exist.

Corporate executives must maximize shareholder return.

They are fired or sued if they don’t.

Corporate executives are incentivized to maximize shareholder return.

Not care for suppliers.

Not care for employees.

Not care for customers.

Not care for the planet.

Not care for democracy.

Not care for indigenous rights.

Not care for national cultures.

Not care for human rights.

Not care about human freedom from lifelong debt peonage, rent salvery, suffering, need, and monopolistic tyranny.

Quite the opposite.

Shareholder profits. That’s it.

Capitalism is the most efficient form of slavery ever invented.

Corporate executives are given a carrot and a stick… literally threatened and incentivized… to make life nothing short of misery and hell for suppliers, employees, and customers, if it maximizes shareholder returns and compounds the monopolization of assets into fewer and fewer hands.

What sort of demon invented shareholder capitalism?

(And make no mistake; it’s demonic.)

It takes a truly powerful spiritual force to foist such a system on the entire world.

Shareholder profit after all.

That’s Mammon’s highest value.

Everything else must be sacrificed on its altar.

What’s even more astounding about the three companies I mentioned — Tesco, Boeing, and Chevron — but all three are owned by Blackrock, the $10+ trillion megabeast.

The good news is that a better way is coming.

The Christian vision for commerce — of trade as loving, self-sacrificial service to others — will eventually obliterate capitalism.

It’s mathematically more efficient.

It’s morally superior.

It’s sustainable.

It’s just.

It’s right.

Slowly but surely, it will take over, whether non-contributing parasitic shareholders like it or not.

The future belongs to the giving creators, not the hoarding dragons.

Predicting the future is obviously a silly thing to do, but boy, is it fun to speculate. (I went 21/22 in 2022, 23/23 in 2023, and 23/24 in 2024.)

I went 22/25 in 2025.

Misses:

• I predicted Luigi Mangione would be found guilty; the trial was pushed to 2026

• I predicted suicides would reach an all-time high; mercifully, they fell slightly short of a new record

• I predicted cops would kill more people than ever; they “only” killed 1,263 this past year.

But, at least we didn’t die in a global nuclear war, Trump didn’t invade Greenland/Canada/Panama Canal, Trudeau got tossed, woke peaked, and humanity didn’t reach a breaking point.

The future has a formula:

Chart the current trajectories (good and bad) if nothing changes + assume things will generally get worse due to human nature and the second law of thermodynamics + assume there will be major surprises that no one can predict.

As always, this year’s predictions are written as declaratives, but of course, only God knows the future.

1. Real inflation is going to make you 10% poorer.

It won’t stop until private banks are no longer allowed to create new debt-based money out of thin air. In the meantime, governments will continue to lie about the official inflation rate.

2. Prices go up, quality and quantity go down.

Corporations exist to return profit to shareholders. Corporations will continue to do what they legally exist to do.

3. Taxes and stealth taxes will go up, service quality and quantity will get cut, and public assets will be sold off on the cheap.

It’s just math. If our collective tax dollars buy 10% less than last year, governments will borrow, cut, and/or sell to make up the shortfall.

4. Shareholders, bankers, and landlorders will continue to compound their monopolization of assets and power.

Capitalism’s entire purpose is to compound wealth for asset-monopolizers. Everything must be slaughtered on the altar of more.

5. Muslims will murder more Jews, Christians, and Westerners.

Because that’s the entire point of Islam. (The West is called The West because it’s the western 25% of ancient Christendom that hasn’t yet been conquered for Allah.) For those who want to understand the full game plan, Raymond Ibrahim’s Sword and Scimitar is mandatory reading in 2026.

6. The Arab global propaganda machine goes into overdrive.

Qatar alone has invested more than $100 billion in the ideological war to embed pro-Islamist content in history, social studies, media, social media, academia, governments, and courts. The petro-money they’re pouring onto the Western fire is unfathomable:

• $10 billion to Cornell.

• $1.3 billion to Texas A&M.

• Saudi spent $2 million/month on lobbying

• Qatari money bankrolled a single program at Brown University to the tune of $1 billion, creating a K-12 curricula that reached 8,000+ U.S. schools.

It’s all a trojan Horse for ideological infiltration fomenting youth radicalization.

People who aren’t vocally pro-Muslim will be increasingly labeled “Islamophobic,” in the same way trans activists insist “silence is violence.”

7. The real estate market does NOT crash

Because it’s already in a reverse crash.

8. Critical thinking takes a huge hit

As if social media wasn’t bad enough, now people are outsourcing their thinking to artificial intelligence.

9. Artificial intelligence keeps humanity on its death march to the Great Tribulation

11. American taxpayers are forced to pay over $1.2 trillion in interest, and global debt grows by trillions

12. Middle-market sit-down restaurants get battered. The future is high-turnover fast food (think: Chick-fil-A) and high-priced fine dining (think: Michelin star). Everything in between, like Cracker Barrel? Absolutely screwed thanks to landlords, bankers, and shareholders.

13. Homelessness continues to rise

14. Global democracy declines for the 20th consecutive year

15. The world’s corporate-captured politicians will do nothing meaningful about climate change

16. The United Kingdom continues to collapse under the weight of countless enemies and a once-great population weakened by rejecting God.

Now for some happier news…

17. Taurine starts its ascent

Move over creatine. Taurine is the most slept-on supplement I’ve ever tried. Since Covid it seems like everyone is always ill all the time. Taurine joins the first line of defense alongside Vitamin C, Vitamin D, magnesium, historical heaps of sleep, and sunlight.

18. Iran continues to shake off the chains of Islam

Iran’s underground church is exploding, and tens of millions more prefer secular Persian roots to forced conquest. If JD Vance can keep Trump applying pressure and offering protection to protestors, the Ayatollah’s days are numbered.

19. Poland keeps racking up wins

Considering Australia, Germany, and France basically cancelled Christmas and New Year’s this year, Poland might soon be the only place left with safe Christmas markets.

20. Gold and especially silver continue to tear it up

Honest money beats dishonest banker money every time.

21. Wellness trend of the year: Lymphatic drainage

I’m not saying everyone will dork out and buy a mini-trampoline, but millions will start draining the sludge.

22. Obesity takes a nosedive

As GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic become as common as vitamins, obesity rates will have their largest year-on-year decline. (Of course, society will deal with the unforeseen side effects for decades to come.)

23. The tide turns on LEDs

Studies will show they’re straight-up toxic, and the people who start removing the fast-moving strobe lights from their homes will see serious gains in calming.

24. Millions discover nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste.

Wow. If you know, you know.

25. Men rediscover testosterone

Good times create weak men.
Hard times create hard men.
As life gets harder, a small selection of men rise to the challenge.

Expect to hear way more talk of keto, carnivore, DHT, boron, weight-training, MMA, and sunmaxxing from your man-friends.

Expect more men to start unapologetically taking a strong lead in various areas of life. It’s not that women don’t have equal value or worth; it’s just that they will never fathom the darkness of the wolves.

Shepherds will rise.

26. Millions more wake up to the lies

False narratives inevitably collapse.

The truth will set us free.

The best news

God exists outside of time.

Meaning He’s already seen every possible permutation of events.

And He has a plan to redeem all the evil that will inevitably occur due to the rebellion of free wills.

Our job is to say yes to a free will with far more insight than our own.

Something to watch out for in 2026:

Friends and acquaintances quietly disappearing.

As billionaire elites hollow out middle-class wealth, people wither.

Most don’t go out with a bang, but with a whimper.

Poor congregants stop coming to church.

Colleagues pass on happy hour as they quietly drown in debt.

Neighbours retreat into a life on screens just to numb reality.

The desperate move far away, chasing affordability and reprieve.

Keep your eyes open for it.

Do what you can to help others survive tomorrow.

It seems like yesterday that my thirteen-year-old self kissed a cute girl at a Newsboys concert.

Now I’m married to a forty-year-old woman!

As the horse-loving Spanish say: “El tiempo corre.”

Time runs.

A few weeks ago, my then-not-quite-so-ancient wife attended a women’s wreath-making night hosted by our church.

Fifty ladies got together to learn to make wreaths out of wild materials gathered from the woodlands by our pastor’s wife and her kids.

I’ve never loved a wreath so much in my life, particularly because of a sneaky little bit of British genius:

Hidden inside the wreath is an inner ring of moss.

As the moisture-laden English air breezes past our front door, the moss captures the moisture…

…and then uses it to nourish the holly, ivy, fir, and berries.

Brilliant, right?!

Rather than becoming dry, brittle, and cracked, our wreath is as fresh and green as the day Michelle brought it home.

Fair play to all the high-performers who resolve year-round and don’t need a mental starting gun to implement new habits, but most normie Western post-modernists are so cringe about resolutions.

It signals cynicism, laziness, non-intentionality, hopelessness, and a lack of self-esteem, self-discipline, and ambition.

Why would you not want to leverage any mental trick to kickstart a new habit that could seriously improve your life?

2026 is going to be brutal.

• Real inflation is going to make you 10% poorer.

• Muslims will murder more Jews, Christians, and Westerners.

• Taxes and stealth taxes will go up.

• Shareholders, bankers, and landlorders will continue to compound their monopolization of assets and power.

So, among other things, this year, I want to be more mossy.

I want to quietly nourish behind the scenes.

Helping and serving in little ways.

Smiling and saying good morning and good afternoon to strangers.

Giving.

Telling the truth.

Our culture, society, and civilization are under attack.
We’re withering.
Drying out.
Dessicating.
Becoming brittle.
Cracking.

We need people to capture and absorb the winds of the Spirit and spread that life-giving water to the people around them.

Let’s make 2026 juicy.

Dave and Claire saved for more than a decade to fulfill their dream of buying a five-acre farm and starting a premium organic greens business.

When they finally had enough, they put an offer on a farm, sold their little house, and waited for their overpriced lawyers to close the deals.

Their home sale went through, but the farm purchase didn’t.

Then Covid hit.

The price of places in the countryside nearly doubled.

Dave and Claire were left homeless and businessless — enslaved under a landlord, paying more to lease a moldy rental than they would’ve paid to own a flourishing farm.

I could see the sorrow in Claire’s eyes.

I could see the fury in Dave’s.

New wealth is created when humans apply work time to God’s free natural resources.

Even though we’re totally disconnected from it today, the reality is that 100% of the goods we enjoy still come from the land.

Both the McDonald’s French fries and the stainless steel deep fryer that cooks the fries come from the land.

The cars we drive and the clothes we wear come from the land.

The coffee or tea you drink and the screen you’re reading this article on come from the land.

Even digital products like audiobooks and Bitcoin are actually still physical bits of information stored on servers created from the land.

New usable wealth is created when humans apply work-time to God’s land.

That’s how all wealth is created.

And the opposite is also true:

If humans don’t work or don’t have free access to God’s land, they suffer poverty and need.

When people like Dave and Claire are denied access to God’s land, they’re unable to apply their time and work to His free resources to create and contribute new wealth to others, such as organic leafy greens.

Imagine you want to start a business producing honey.

Or you want to build furniture.

Or you just need a home, water, heat, or food.

You have three options:

1) Rent monopolized land/resources at a profit to someone else (a landlord)

2.) Borrow monopolized money to buy monopolized land/resources at a profit to someone else (a lender and a land/resource monopolizer)

3.) Sell your labour at a discount to create a profit margin for someone else (a capitalist shareholder), so you can buy monopolized land/resources at a profit to someone else (a land/resource monopolizer

The current privatization and monopolization of land and resources mean everyone has to submit to economic exploitation just to survive.

And it gets worse.

Because these resource-monopolizing profiteers now have principal and profits to spend, thanks to the work of landless workers, the rich can outbid everyone else for other assets.

Which is exactly what they do — which makes the problem worse and worse with each passing generation.

Our current mammonomic system guarantees homelessness, ever-increasing prices, ever-increasing debt, ever-increasing rent, and way more work than is necessary for an ordinary person to have enough.

It’s an unbelievably profitable treadmill that the elite establishment resource-hoarding class simply will not let human mice get off.

The entire economy is founded on exploitation.

When the Bible says “do justice,” how can there ever be justice if the entire economic system is founded on injustice?

A belief in human ownership of God’s property ultimately betrays an underlying belief that humans created in the image of God do not actually have the right to life, liberty, food, shelter, or water.

They only have the right to these things if they first make a profit for resource monopolizers.

This is evil.

This is wrong.

We must reinstate proportional land rights for all.

It’s that simple.

It’s the biblical way to ensure everyone always has free access to the resources required for human survival.

If we’re going to continue to allow individuals to amass more land than they need, then at the very least, they must be forced to pay an annual land monopolization charge.

Because land monopolization without recompense to everyone else is theft.

Moral justice dictates that resource-hoarders must pay a fee to the community for their exclusive enjoyment of what rightfully belongs to the community.

Call it a “Commons Share.”

Real, true, fundamental, economic justice requires land rights for all, or a land monopolization charge to reimburse everyone excluded by monopolists from accessing God’s free resources required for survival.

I obviously don’t trust secular capitalist/communist/socialist governments and personally prefer the decentralization of land into the hands of all individuals, but a land monopolization rebate is at least a tiny step in the right direction away from the slavery of Mammon, toward the economic freedom of the invading Kingdom of God.

The need for fundamental economic justice will become more vital (and far more obvious) when a handful of AI techbro financier trillionaires monopolize all of the world’s resources.

They’re well on their way.

Our Christmas tree is up (“seasonal festive fir” if you believe our grocery store), and, living in Europe, we’re avoiding all Christmas markets that don’t have “diversity barriers” to keep cult members from running over our children.

There’s even less proof that his name was actually Jesus.

Or that he was a wood carpenter.

Is Post-Christianity Just Hell By Another Name?

The erasure of Christ from Christmas and Christianity from politics and Jesus from culture and the Kingdom of God from the empires of man is beginning to show itself for the nightmare that it is.

Imagine if an army of poisonous mushrooms cut down a beautiful ancient tree…

…then spent the next century gloating about how great the Mushroom Empire is, despite deriving all their nutrients from the rotting tree…

…then, when the tree has been sucked dry and the mushroom colony is starting to wither, they blame the tree for all their problems.

That’s post-Christianity.

Or we could picture it in photographic form.

I can’t get this image out of my head:

Kill something beautiful.

Board up its exterior so it can never be accessed again.

Then parasitically build a rent-extracting tower on its solid bones.

There’s a spiritual parasitism at play whenever another religion, cult, or belief lives off the benefits that a thousand years of belief in God produces, while rejecting the beliefs that created the only civilization worth living in.

Pre-Christ: Slavery and serfdom and poverty for nearly all; no rights for women, children, or the poor.

Since-Christ: The least amount of slavery and poverty per capita in human history, the most amount of rights and freedoms for the most amount of people in human history, and growth in the direction of total redemption.

Post-Christ: A slow descent back to pre-Christ.

As pastor Mark Sayers describes it, “People want the Kingdom without the King.”

Post-Christianity As Diminishment

Imagine the most perfect statue in history.

Of the risen Christ.

A gigantic statue, one hundred feet high and twenty feet wide.

Now imagine each generation took that statue and re-carved it in their image.

With each passing generation, the statue shrinks in size and beauty.

Soon, it’s a hideous, disfigured, microscopic blob.

Instead of preserving and protecting and stewarding the original beauty, now we’re left worshiping dust.

Down is called up, bad is called good, wrong is called right, insanity is called sanity, and that which is ugly is called beautiful.

Words lose all meaning.

Everything is a lie.

Money is devalued.

Buildings become hideous.

Art becomes anti-art.

All is stripped of meaning, purpose, and direction.

Life grows cold without the lamp of love.

But there’s a star.

A star.

Dancing in the night.

A child.

A child.

Sleeping in the night.

He will bring us goodness and light.

He will bring us goodness.

And light.

I was at the gym about a month ago.

My gym has five adjustable benches for dumbbell work.

All five were occupied by teenage boys.

Not a single one was lifting weights.

They were all on their phones.

I walked up to the nearest kid, pointed at the sign on the wall that says you have to leave the gym to use your phone, and said, “You. Move. Now.”

He barely glanced up from his phone as he dutifully relocated himself…

…to the flat bench station.

A few days later — I lift most Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays — I walked into the change room to see two teenage boys sprawled out on the benches on their phones.

Neither acknowledged my existence.

“Afternoon, gentlemen.”

They looked up, confused.

“What are you training today?” I asked.

One managed to shake himself from his screen stupor.

“Uhh… chest and triceps.”

“Good for you. Now go get after it.”

They both scurried out of the change room, no doubt to consume 4–6 minutes of screentime between each set of six to eight reps.

A few weeks ago, there was a teen couple at my gym.

I know they’re a couple because they occasionally make out between sets.

But mostly, they look at their phones.

Do you remember the feeling of being a hormonal teenager “in love?” The passion, the excitement, the tension, the heat?

They have none of that.

These two are beside each other, but they aren’t together.

Each is miles and miles — potentially thousands of miles — away.

Remember, these are the intentional teenagers.

These aren’t the tens of millions of teens who are locked in their bedrooms like vampires allergic to the sun, doomscrolling social media and porn, watching others play video games, avoiding human interaction like the plague, and then wondering why they’re crushed with mental illness and crippling social anxiety.

These are the teens who actually bought gym memberships.

These are the ones who actually bothered to go to the gym.

Their bodies checked in, but their brains checked out.

I started to ask myself?

Where are all these teenagers?

Their bodies are in the gym, but where are they?

Where are their minds?

Where is their attention?

I decided to launch an investigation.

I decided to start spying.

Rather than immediately booting cell-bound teens off equipment, I decided to first look over their shoulders to see what they are consuming and what is consuming them.

Not one of the dozens has ever been weirded out by this.

None has even noticed.

So deep is teenage screen addiction that one could easily and consecutively rob, maim, kill, and/or clip the hair off five hundred teenagers on their phones without them noticing.

The results of my spying?

Not one teen was watching a movie.

Not one teen was watching a YouTube instructional video on proper lifting form.

None were even texting with their girlfriends or boyfriends.

Where were the minds of these teenage bodies?

The answer was disturbing.

These teenagers aren’t anywhere.

They’re in a place called in between.

What I witnessed was the rapid, endless movement of thumbs and thumbnails.

Like junkies looking for a hit of heroin, teenagers are swiping left, right, up, and down, popping between video shorts, photos, and games (but rarely text), even popping from app to app, but barely pausing to watch anything for longer than three seconds.

Honestly, even TikTok shorts are now way too long for the average teen’s attention span.

I didn’t witness a single kid consume a single piece of content for more than twenty seconds.

Where are all the kids these days?

They’re down the dopamine rabbit hole.

They’re desperately searching for a buzz that makes them feel anything.

But they’ve seen it all.

And it no longer registers a dopamine hit.

So they have to keep searching.

Where are all the kids these days?

They’re nowhere.

They’re totally and utterly lost.

There’s a growing movement to ban smartphones in schools and to ban social media for teenagers.

That’s because teachers aren’t stupid.

They know their students are bodily present, but they haven’t actually been in school for years.

We’re raising a generation of lost boys (and girls).

When they’re alone, they’re not alone.

When they’re with their friends, they’re not with their friends.

When they’re at the gym, they’re anywhere but the gym.

They’re nowhere.

They’re everywhere, except where they are.

If our children are anywhere, they’re in the demonic data centers and server farms of China and Silicon Valley.

Kidnapping the minds of children (and adults) and addicting them to brain-mush is the most profitable invention in human history.

All the trillion-dollar tech companies exist to mind-capture.

Here’s how it works:

Hijack attention → chemically addict people to the dopamine chase → serve them ads → shareholders profit.

That’s the entire business model.

If you own index funds or mutual funds or retirement accounts that contain the S&P, you’re profiting from the kidnapping of children.

We should do more than ban smartphones and social media.

We should destroy the business model that has exorcised the souls of a billion people and imprisoned them in server farms.

Concord recently turned four.

He wrote his first word last week:

God.

Henson turns one in one week.

He dragged himself to his feet for the first time last week.

I’m broody for another baby.

Hopefully, we can afford to adopt in a few years.

Luckily, there’s a newborn in our church that I get to cuddle every Sunday.

Michelle turns forty, two days before Christmas. I turn forty in mid-January.

We’ve known each other since we were twelve.

Life flies.

Except when you’re editing!

Right now, we’re knee-deep in edits on a ten-hour Christian economics course.

It’s already taken 200% longer than we’d hoped.

No end in sight.

Very discouraging.

But it will be so so so so so worth it!

Earlier this year, our tub was leaking.

I asked on our town’s Facebook group if anyone could recommend a good plumber.

Several neighbors recommended a new plumber, a friendly, young, ex-military man.

He did a great job at a reasonable price.

Fast-forward six months.

Our sink started leaking last week.

I messaged him.

He’d since expanded his business and said one of his employees would be around to do the repair.

The hair on the back of my neck stood up.

I knew what was coming.

And sure enough…

Once the employee finished the work, he showed me the bill…

For more than $200.

Do I even need to tell you that the work was far more shoddy?

That’s shareholder capitalism in a nutshell.

You pay for the actual worker to do the work…

…but you also pay their boss.

Just because.

The non-worker added zero additional value to the transaction.

In fact, because the actual worker has less incentive to do a great job — because they’re not getting the full value of the value they create — you as the customer end up with inferior work.

The common unthinking pushback to anyone who speaks out against this insane economic model is: “But who will invest?!”

Silly.

Are you telling me no one would create and sell goods and services if shareholders didn’t exist?

That’s literally what my plumber did, before he started exploiting others.

It’s what people did for all of human history.

It’s the same with landlord capitalism.

People used to pay a builder to build them a home.

Now, renters have to pay builders for temporary homes… via landlords who flay massive profits off them every single month.

The common unthinking pushback to anyone who speaks out against this immoral economic model is: “But who will buy houses?!”

Wild.

Are you telling me no one would buy houses if landlords didn’t exist to buy them all?

Again, they’re ignoring the billions of people in human history who bought or built homes without the “need” for an extractive rent-seeking land-lorder to insinuate themselves into the process.

There’s a word for people who extract profit without actually doing work:

Parasites.

Workers are being cannibalized by vampiric shareholders via interest, dividends, capital gains, and rents, despite not creating and contributing new usable wealth for others.

Capitalists insist capitalism is all about efficiency.

But they’re lying.

Capitalism is all about maximizing returns to shareholders.

Not maximizing value to customers.

In other words:

Capitalist profit is the ultimate inefficiency.

Why should humanity have to pay extra layers of profit and payment to non-contributors just because?

Would you rather…

1. Pay $5 for a loaf of bread, paid directly to the baker?

2. Pay $4 for a loaf of bread, with a shareholder getting $0.50 profit and the actual baker making $1.50 less than he or she deserves?

Sadly, this is the trap that capitalist shareholders have pushed humanity into.

It’s just pure exploitative extraction from the actual workers.

Would you rather…

1. Pay $1,000/month for a permanent home, paid directly to the builder?

2. Pay $2,500/month for a temporary home, paid to a landlord.

The more landlords that exist, the higher shelter prices soar.

Profiteers make life more expensive for consumers.

Capitalism-worshippers don’t get it

Either they don’t get it…

…or they’re blinded to it (by self or Mammon)…

…or they absolutely do get it, and just don’t care.

But three undeniable facts remain.

Don’t miss this:

1. The market price is the highest price capitalists can charge.

2. The market wage is the lowest price capitalists can pay.

3. The profit margin between these two numbers is compounded by capitalists to bid up and buy up assets, so they have more power to raise prices and suppress wages.

Do you get it?

Do you see where this is going?

How do you think this ends?

That’s right:

Capitalism is the snake that devours the world and then eats itself.

It’s just colonization by another name.

No wonder democratic rights and collective bargaining rapidly follow capitalism — they’re the only shields against the onslaught.

Without growing democratic rights and ever-strengthening collective bargaining power, there’s no way for the majority to have any chance of survival.

Sadly, we’re too late.

The top 10% already own over 70% of global assets and have indebted the world to themselves to the tune of over $300 trillion and counting.

This will compound until a few hundred people control everything and all soon-to-be-ten-billion-of-us are gig-work rent-slaves.

Or even 1 person if they create a hyperintelligent AI and somehow find a way to control it.

The point is this:

Capitalists won’t save us from the inevitable conclusion of capitalism.

It will take a revolution or a revival.

Last week, during Prime Minister’s Questions in the UK House of Commons, a Member of Parliament named Alex Mayer asked a question that would save her country billions of dollars and thousands of lives:

“As the clocks go back this weekend, would the Prime Minister take a look at the evidence on trialling Churchill Time again?”

Her boss — the Prime Minister of her own party — the robotic, corporate-controlled Keir Starmer, shot her down with a curt dismissal (and likely an outright lie):

“We’ll take a look at the relevant material.”

Sure he will!

What was MP Mayer talking about?

This is a surprisingly fun story:

During World War II, Winston Churchill changed the clocks to shift extra daylight into the evening — one hour ahead of GMT in winter (single BST) and two hours ahead of GMT in summer (double BST).

The first lesson here is that you can just do things.

The second lesson is that pearl-clutchers who say it can’t be done need to read a history book — the UK has only had DST since May 21, 1916.

Churchill Time is, frankly, brilliant:

• Over 2 million Britons suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which costs the nation over £150 million annually, to say nothing of the immense individual and relational suffering

• Changing the clocks increases heart attack risk by 5–10% during the transition — sleep matters more than we can imagine.

• Those extra hours of sunlight add up — it will save Britons £485 million in electricity per year.

• Which, of course, reduces British carbon emissions by over 400,000 tonnes per year.

• Less artificial light is better for our eyes, our skin, and even for avoiding balding!

• Extra sunlight after work also increases physical activity, saving the nation tens of billions in healthcare costs over the decades ahead.

• Aligning life with daylight supports better sleep patterns and overall health.

• And let’s not forget how it improves the economy, particularly the hospitality industry, as people are more likely to actually go out if it isn’t pitch black at 5 pm.

Remember, where I live, on the shortest day of the year, the sun sets at 3:40pm.

It’s miserable.

And completely unnecessary.

Frankly, I’d take it further than Churchill Time:

1. I’d abolish time changes because they’re a heart attack and car accident nightmare (the rates soar because everyone is tired and running late.)

2. I’d go with fixed GMT+2 year-round —  pushing the clock two hours later, so sunset is 5:40 pm on the shortest day of the year.

3. Then I’d shift the workday from 9–5 to 8–4, giving people nearly two hours of glorious sunlight after work on the shortest day of the year. On the longest day of the year, we’d have 17 hours and 17 minutes of sunlight, from 6:30 AM to 11:47 PM. (Plus, it would align us with our European friends in Paris and Berlin.)

No matter what time model nations use, the guiding star for the conversation should be human health and well-being, not a few extra dollars of savings for corporate shareholders at the cost of material misery for billions.

Clocks should be set for sunmaxxing — to ensure the largest number of people are exposed to the most amount of sun, every single day of the year.

What we have right now isn’t working.
It’s doing the opposite.
It’s killing our health, ransacking our wallets, wrecking the planet, and making us deeply unhappy.

Enough is enough.

Abolish time changes.
